For many people, who have not taken the time to understand, it has become a formula response.  It is treated as a "magic word" ... It's as if they think "If I say 'In Jesus Name' then God has to do what I want because in John 14:3, Jesus said 'Whatever you ask in my name ... My father will do.'"

The phrase "in Jesus name" in this case means, "under Jesus authority" or "because of Jesus' reputation"  which necessarily implies at Jesus' direction.

Thus although the words "In Jesus Name" are often used, they are frequently actually mis-used.  It twists the concept of the sovereignty of God to mean what people what it to mean. Instead of approaching God with that which would please Jesus, we use the words to try to get whatever we want.

This is, I believe, why Sandra is accurately indicating that using the phrase "In Jesus Name" as a formula prayer often using the name of God in vain.

In Bible JESUS Will ignore the people who got miracle in the name of jesus.  WHY

I am assuming you are talking about the parable of the sheep and the goats.

A police impersonator with a false badge can use deception to compel behavior.  The false badge does not give him real authority.

When the real police find him, they deny his actual authority.

Even a real policeman with a real badge can mis-use his authority.

Same thing.  It's about proper and improper use of authority.

Look at the whole story ... not just the end.

That is why jesus gave us the MANTRA[prayer].

Because people are always expecting miracle and good things. Not ready to tolerate the up and down in life period.

Who knows and will give the MANUAL [How to use JESUS name].

Authority of JESUS May lead us to misuse. That is why JESUS ignore that people. It means we may not reach GOD.

In the prayer JESUS not mentioned his name and his role.

Failure to use Jesus authority properly can also lead to mis-use.

To err one way by avoiding another err is still to err.

It is only wrong to say "In Jesus Name" if you are not, in fact asking in Jesus Name.  To avoid it under all conditions is just as wrong.

Nobody can told that the prayer to GOD with out the name JESUS will not heared. Then what is the problem.

That is why muslims are avoiding the name JESUS in prayer.

I believe that the official muslim doctrine on Jesus is erroneous at best, and blasphemous at worst.

I did not realize you were attempting to draw me into a debate on the correctness of muslim prayer.

If that's where you are going, then we have no common spiritual ground upon which to continue this discussion.

Ah ... I see.  I apologize. I love to discuss, but sometimes things are too different to have meaningful discussions.

If I'm not mistaken, Catholics typically pray, "In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit".

Which, to my way of thinking is also praying in Jesus name.  It can be correct or incorrect.
