Does posting comments increase the PageRank of my profile and hubs?

When I post comments on hubs around HubPages, does that increase the PageRank of my profile page and therefore also of the hubs that are mentioned on my profile? I looked around and I don't see any nofollow tags so it should be the case right? Or am I missing something here?

That is a peculiar rationale for leaving comments. By the way, they are all internal links within hubpages.com.

The comments have to be genuine of course to be valuable but based on my understanding of how Google ranks pages using their PageRank algorithm, it should work like that right? If there are many links on HubPages that link to my profile then Google might that it is an important page which in turn reflects positively on the links from my profile page to all those hubs. Don't worry: I'm not gonna spam comments all around the place but technically it's an interesting effect.

Of course you'll be sincere. But the comments are all internal links within the same domain, hubpages.com. Somehow I don't think Google will be so impressed by that.

That's a good point yes. Out of all the pages on HubPages it would probably take many many comments to have a real effect on the rank of someone's profile page.

Internal links within a domain still have value.

To be honest I don't know how it could affect your hubs, profile sure but the hubs, not sure about how that would work. I think the point with leaving comments is that if you leave comments on hubs you enjoy or have questions about etc. you are engaging with other writers who may well come and comment on your hubs. Those comments do add to the word count for google and thus means fresh content for the hubs, which in turn can mean a better ranking.

I'm not sure but it seems that my score goes up when I make a lot of comments, but when I take time out write it goes down.
