Can self-made videos stored on the hardrive be uploaded directly to a Hub, similar to uploading pictures?

    If so, how?

The last time I created a hub using a video clip I don't recall seeing that as an option in the video capsule.

There is no such option, so you would have to upload it to YouTube first.

That is not exactly the answer I wanted to hear.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to add this as a feature?

I asked the question because I wanted to use some of my own video clips to produce some “How To” hubs using the video as a demonstration of the finished product or the procedure.

In the case of the hub I was going to publish first, the video shows a 25 foot outdoor, Light only, Christmas tree that changes from Red & Green to Red, White and Blue every twenty seconds, but it kind of loses impact with only still shots.

Oh well guess I’ll have to pursue publishing this elsewhere, too bad.

I wanted to please you, if I could. HubPages is unlikely to add such a feature due to copyright concerns, apart from the technical aspects. Good luck.

I didn’t intend to sound unappreciative of your efforts, I am grateful for the response, it saves me a lot of time searching around for a way to do it. Thanks for the help.

You are welcome! YouTube has some limited sharing options/private viewing options. It may be worthwhile checking out whether these can be combined with you getting the embed code to run on HubPages.

I would think that putting the videos on YouTube would be a good idea. In addition to making money through HubPages, you can also set up revenue sharing on youtube as well.  If you're going to post a video, why not try to get a little pocket change while you're at it?

I haven’t used YouTube yet, other than embedding some video into a few hubs. I’ll look into it.

I actually use Vimeo because they allow longer videos than YouTube. YouTube only allows videos up to 10 minutes, and nearly all of mine are longer than that. If you have short videos, YouTube is probably the best option, though.

      Peace,
      Donna

You could use Revver too, and that offers revenue generation.
