Have you guys noticed if having links in hubs raises your hubscore and traffic?
Reason I ask is bc I have a hub that has a score in the 80s, but someone published a hub after me with similar content that has a score in the 90s. And the main difference is that the other hub has a few outgoing links.
I even have other information related to the topic. Could it be that my hub isn't directly 100#% of the time on the topic. Although my extra info is still related.
I remember seeing somewhere on here (wish I could remember which thread...) where the subject of links came up, and someone mentioned that Google ranks a page both on the quality of its incoming and outgoing links, so a few quality outgoing links could help get more love from Google, and therefore result in a higher hubscore. I know I started adding links after I read that
Well, incoming links are by far more important than outgoing. As long as your title and text have all keywords you want to rank for, other on-page improvements will bring only marginal effect. You are much better off spending the time on getting more incoming links...
Relache- I'm assuming that the reason the other hub has a higher score is due to traffic. What I'm questioning is what causes the other hub to have higher traffic? And if the links had anything to do with it.
When I checked my lens, I do have a few lenses, but not quite as many. IE I may have like 3 and they have 5 or something. I don't remember the link count, didn't actually count.
My hub is longer, so that counts that one out. Hubber quality about the same, give or take, and in many times my hubber score is higher. I'm don't know about thumbs up votes or uniqueness on the web. It's not a completely unique topic, but not everywhere...
I think Misha's post just before your last one explained links best.
BTW, I'm almost 100% certain you're trying to work out why my ear piercing Hub is ranking higher than yours and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the fact that I've been the body art editor over at Bellaonline.com for five years now.
Did you compare the keywords of both hubs Whitney? I think those effect google search traffic dramatically.
LOL Whitney, looks like I did not make myself clear
The other hub has better hubscore cause it gets more traffic. It is getting more traffic cause it's ranked higher. It is ranked higher cause its owner took time to get some incoming links instead of wasting time on on-page optimization...

I have been on hubpages for two months. I have read multiple articles on SEO and backlinking. Ninety percent of my hubs do not have backlinking. But I choose for a while to say no backlinking. It was "different" I thought and "original". ...

After 6 months on the site i've started the really wonder how many backlinks is a reasonable number to any hub, and really to a hub becoming successful? Or is it simply a lottery. What kind of figures do other hubbers consider?

I notice we now have a new tab under stats called hub metrics - i understand published date and word count - but the symbols for incoming links - is there a rough guide to how many links are how many * and are links all or just google - thanks

Along with the Google effect lately I've seen a lot of forum posts about spam, and every time I hub hop it is obvious that there is a lot submitted here of both spam and simply substandard hubs.I would suggest that the following rules apply to the first 5 (or 10 or 20?) hubs by any new...

After reading a hub by Relache, I looked at the incoming links on some of my hubs. Most of them only have one incoming link, and the odd one has two or three but no more than that. I've backlinkined these hubs to the usual sites - xomba, shetold etc so where do the incoming links actually come...
