    CROSS means What
What in JESUS point of view

My understanding of the literal meaning is that those who wanted to follow the philosophy of Jesus needed to be prepared to carry their own cross up the hill because if you were convicted of whatever Jesus was convicted of... his untimely end will be yours also. However in losing your life Jesus advocates that you will actually save your life. A kind of spiritual awareness of the eternal life without physical existence. Nothing wrong with that. Jesus also advocates if you wanted to save your life (physical) you would actually lose it (spiritual). Just meant you would live your physical existence without much awareness of the bigger picture.

Since we are not in the times of Jesus any longer the meaning has several interpretations that have been adapted to suit changing times. Some meanings are metaphorical and symbolic that are sometimes useful for the inner growth they can inspire.

Cross is just a tool of punishment or persecution; I don't think it has any other significance. It is just like sword, or an arrow or a dagger or a gun; a tool to kill or torture.

How to identify and carry our cross  -- I want to know

Oh okay..think I know what you are pointing to. Let me know if its not what you are pointing to.

Lets say you are following whatever philosophy fits right with you for the moment and it happens to be Jesus and the bible. You lose your family and friends because they are against Jesus philosophy. Is that a cross you can carry?

Identifying crosses in a symbolic sense does not only apply to religion it can apply to many areas of your life so there can be many crosses one has to carry. Crosses only become burdensome however if you are not true to yourself. That self within that is naturally arising without interference from the mind.

I think this means you need to be responsible for yourself, don't put the onus of responsibility on anyone else as that is your cross to bear. This is of course my interpretation, you are free to take it or leave it smile

Truth is not an interpretation of the bible, or a doctrine, or even a teaching. The Truth is a person. JESUS is the Truth..

Jesus carried the weight of the world on His shoulders in enduring what He did on Calvary. He died for the sins of the world. That is your sin and mine combined and then some. In reference to us carrying our crosses, and taking them up. It is to die to our own selfish ways and learn His and live accordingly. He did what He did in our stead. What He endured you and I where worthy Of. The punishment of our sins. He made a way, so that we could be forgiven for our trespasses. And in accepting what He has done on the cross and through genuine repentance we are forgiven and given new life in Him.

To lose our lives for His sake is to truly find it. When one tries to save his own life, and do things his own way, one will only end up with the same results, the loss of.. People, no matter how much you work for in this life, you can not take it with you. In the end what really matters is that you are know by Jesus. Just as well, is that you know Jesus. To say you know about Jesus is not the same as knowing Him.

For me taking up my cross is denying myself of the things that I could be doing that I know God does not approve of. Or living for myself and not helping others. Living for fleshly pleasures and not with purpose..  Doing what I know to be right even if I do not feel like it at the time..

What did he endure on calvary? Or are you meaning the crucifixion on Golotha or something like that? I don't think he had the weight of the world on his shoulders in any case because for the most part while he lived in this world he was not attached to the things of this world like most people in his era. At least according to most accounts of his life on earth. He did however demonstrate how to live a spiritual life well.

If Jesus is the only truth that exists for you I see nothing wrong with that. Thats where you are at. If you feel like denying yourself of things that you believe God disapproves of and that is your cross to bear then that is your choice also.

The cross is sacrifice. What Jesus did was an example to us all. He sacrificed all to obey the Father and to save us while we were his enemies. This is why we have been given NEW commandments that all center around love. Love God, Love your neighbors as yourself, and love your enemies.

The cross that you bear is not the weight of your choices, not your wealth, not any other God given blessings or issues that you deal with. Your cross is simply sacrificing what your sinful nature desires in order to be obedient to what God desires.
"...he humbled himself and became obedient to death--even death on a cross!" Philippians 2:8

Jesus struggled with this sacrifice and so shall we but he gave us a perfect example of taking up one's cross.

"My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will." Matthew 26:39

Your cross is denying the disobedient heart, resisting the ungodly desires, turning from your worldly ways.

    This is your cross.

Jesus as a man needed prayer to fulfill his responsibility and carry his cross. He needed help from God the Father. Now after his ascension to heaven he has left us an everpresent helper, in the form of the holy spirit. One you accept Christ's scarifice on that cross and give Him your life, you receive that helper. With the Spirit's help you can do all things, including defeating the sinful nature that keeps us from following after Jesus.

Will you carry your cross for HIM?

    He did for you.
