Example of true Christmas spirit?

   I'm putting this in The Hubber's Hangout because I don't want to start a Christians vs. atheists war.
   I simply want to share an experience that happened yesterday and see if anyone else has had similar "joyful" moments this season, or past seasons.
   
   It was late afternoon. Dark. POURING rain. I had been searching in vain for a wreath (not an evergreen wreath -- a modern one with bulbs).
   I went to a strip mall that has a Michaels (crafts supplies) and a Target. Michaels had nothing. Ok. Onward to Target.
   For some reason, I decided to go into The Bible Store which is in between Michael's and Targe). I wasn't thinking I would find a wreath there. But something just drew me in.
   A man came in after me and said to his wife, "There's a homeless guy outside. I'm going to take him into Target and buy him a coat. He's cold." His wife seemed a bit ambivalent. The man continued, "I was going to give him my coat, but I like this coat."
   Overcome by this man's kindness, I said, "I'll give you $20 toward the coat."
   Off he went.
   I started crying right there in the aisle of The Bible Store.
   I think I will remember that man for many years.

   I don't know if it could be called Christmas Spirit, but:
   
   Many years ago I used to help out at the Salvation Army toy store, giving toys to needy families each year.  It was an eye opening experience.
   
   One year I was assigned to sit at a small table and check in the people as they entered the store (we had a list of needy families from surrounding churches and organizations).  A lady entered with a young girl, perhaps 7 or 8, in tow.
   
   I gave them the bag for their toys and they began to go through the tables and tables of toys.  The little girl was obviously "helping" mama choose toys for other (siblings?) children.  She finally chose a doll for herself and they were through.
   
   Heading for the exit, the little girl suddenly stopped dead, handed the doll she was clutching to her mother and ran back through to store, pigtails flying. 
   
   Arriving at my table she jumped onto my lap, wrapped her little arms around me and gave me a big hug and kiss.  Without a word, embarrassed, she turned and ran out of the store, pausing only long enough to collect Mom.
   
   Of all the patrons through the years that went through the store, the little girl with a Christmas hug is the one I remember.
