   .....People who accept correction are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore it will lead others astray..... What does this mean for you?
   
   (I originally asked this in the Q&A part of hubpages and it came to mind when discussing on another thread about past actions of a certain faith. Personally I think it is excellent wisdom and can be applied to anyones life)

      I don't know the context of the quote, but I'd suggest that people who deal in answers are usually incorrigible. Which is a shame, because most answers are wrong. Much better to question everything.

         I thought the question was self explanatory...may be not.
         
         So if you find you have made an error in some way and are advised how best to correct it. Do you or don't you? What it is then saying in my understanding that those who do not accept or ignore this correction are more likely to lead others astray. Those who do accept the correction are on a pathway to life (more awareness)

            Accepting correction is also an assertive thing to do...
            
            So yes, even thought its found in the bible it has some relevance.
            
            I also agree with Paraglider, asking questions is always good too.

            The trouble is that in many real situations it is just not obvious who is right. I think you'd have to proceed on a case by case basis.

               Oh definitely people giving correction are necessarily always right, I have a circumstance in which they were very wrong.
               But I sat with what they had said for a few days before deciding what they had said to me was wrong. I am humble enough to take correction and smart enough to know when it is wrong - I just wish it wasn't so hard my mental health - as it went on for a while.

      This applies to religious people, who ignore corrections pertaining to their erroneous beliefs.  After ignoring correction, they compulsively lead others astray.

         You think it only applies to religion only how so? 
         
         When a dad beats on his child because that is the only way he knows then he is shown another way but chooses to ignore it. What is he teaching his child.  When his child grows up perhaps he too chooses to ignore a better way and treats his child the same and the cycle continues. That is leading people astray by ignoring corrections and it can affect generations. It is real and it happens and not all of them are Christians.

            I understand the objective meaning of the verse.  I just applied it to religion, because that is one of the many ways that people are led astray, by zealots who refuse to accept correction--and the cycle continues.

         I find the reference from Google; it is  Proverbs 10:17-27 .
         
         It is neither written by the Creator-God nor by Moses. In the ancient days they did not have many books to read so , I think, they added anything useful with the Bible .

   As a leader one must always be willing to take corrections, because there are people looking up to them, and if they don't they will only lead the vulnerable astray.
   We are not perfect.Our ways are not always right, therefore we need corrections. God knew this and he also knew that the man who is willing to accept correction is a wise man because he is interested in improving himself.Only the wise have 'true' life.

   Being able to recognize that an error has been made is the first step to recovery.
     And;  to be willing to accept advice is one thing, to choose to apply it in our lives is another. 
     I have found that many mistakes that most affected my life in a negative way were the result of taking someone else’s advice rather than my own instincts.
     BUT  on the other hand .... there were as many times that everything would have worked out better if I had listened.
   
      And just as many times that a little guidance would have been most beneficial but not forthcoming.
   
     SO as Paraglider said ..  each circumstance needs to be evaluated independently

   I think the first part means that if one suggests a correction with convincing arguments, one should accept it; this is being moderate.
   If one is arrogant and does not accept the correction that makes one an extremist and if he persosts on it one may lead others astray.
   
   We Muslims have a tradition/Hadith from Muhammad;  "word of wisdom is the lost property of the believer; so wherever he finds it, he is most rightful to take it."
