Why can't believers and non-believers live and let live?

Why is it that believers and non-believers just can't let the topic go?

Why must this topic always be fought about?

So, if believers want to believe, let them. That's what the free will is about. People are allowed to believe what they want withut someone telling them that they'll go to hell if they don't believe.

And if non-believers don't want to believe, let them. If they're really going to hell, let them. It's their perogative.

Why can't both drop the topic?

      Awesome!

So - no more evangelizing from the Mormons. This is great. Good for you guys. I won't be seeing any more missionaries? That so?

I have changed my tune Mr. Mormon. When does this new phase start?

You've got such hard core hatred against me but whatever.  Our "discussions" have only spawned from people's accusations and inquiries in here.

I've never started a prosyletizing thread.

I'm sticking to the point of THIS thread.  Live and let live.

So - your religion is not going to stop evangelizing?

What in the world are you talking about?????

My post is from me.  I am a leader in the Church but I am not the Prophet.  Please get a grip.  I do not proselytize on the forums.  I will answer doctrinal questions when posed to me but I don't throw religious ideas around in here like so many love to do.

I speak for me and not the Church.

Really? You don't go around quoting the bible and complaining that LDS members are persecuted?

It's sad but I understand that your countenance on the internet brings you in droves of "followers" of your work.  That's great!  I hope you obtain all the success you wish for and more.  However, you are getting way off the purpose of the thread and in fact proving the point.

Your question to me has been answered by you.  No, I don't complain - I observe.  Persecution is prevalent in every faith and people - including those of no faith.  To "cry wolf" is stupid.

According to our interpretation of the scriptures we are a proselyting faith.  We seek out and teach.  Nine times out of ten we are rejected but that's OK.  All you have to do is slam the door as usual.  Please don't condemn missionaries that knock on your door causing people to lift their rears off the chair to answer the door.  There's no reason not to be polite in declining their message.  It's called liberty.

Are you not prosyletizing?  Aren't you in a constant pursuit to sway people in a certain direction?  Like it or not you are doing the same type of thing.  We all do as we interact with each other in life.

Odd that you complain (observe) so loudly when I do it - don't you think? wink

Perhaps finally he did get the message? I am a mirror. Look how upset Christians get when I proclaim myself righteous:

Only by crushing and converting these infidels by the consistent use of the written word, will we be able to subdue their heretical ways.

Then, and only then, will they and their female family members be allowed to come to our gatherings...

where the later will subjected to my Sodom and Gomorrah inspired advances!

I certainly wish people could live and let live. Seems easy enough. But doesn't seem like most people are interested in that.

I used to think it was believers that were the obnoxious ones, always forcing their beliefs on others and mocking them, but on this forum I have found that atheists can be just as relentless.

It's sad that some people feel they always have to be attacking others' views. Possible reasons: indoctrination, upbringing, personality, insecurity, or misanthropy.

I wish people could live and let live too, but your always going to get extremists, fanatics, zealots and people who just dont like any one regardless.

It all boils down to who is right and who is wrong, which is the stupidest of scenarios possible because it is a question that no one will agree on.

It is a nice thought, but it wont ever happen, as much as we want it too.

The thing is there are millions of people that do not say a word and people say/believe what they want. However there are millions of people who just can't seem to. Maybe it is pure boredom, but to me I have way more things my mind is interested in.

I prefer to live and let live for sure. It's a very personal thing, whether you believe or don't and so it's a touchy issue.

Did somebody say burgers? I want one! Can I get a shake with that?
