Inserting photos

   I have figured out how to put a photo at the top of my text and at the bottom, but I can't figure out how to put one in the middle, over to one side, along a paragraph.  I have watched videos and read the instructions. Something is not clicking what am I doing wrong?

   You move the photo capsules around in a similar way to the text capsules with the navigation arrows. Hope that explains it not sure how else to describe it.

      Thank you for replying.  I have tried that.  The up arrows moves it to the top and the bottom goes back to the end of the text.  I am going to try another approach.

   You need to place the photo capsule above the text capsule. Then, on the photo capsule, click on the right-oriented arrow, and the photo will wrap itself around the text on the right.

      Thanks again.  I went to an old page and inserted a picture.  It went in on the right side at the top of the article.  Then I tried, as suggested.  But how to I get the text capsule to go into the middle of my written article?  I can't seem to drag it to where I want it . Does this have to be done when writing and before you submit?  I'm still lost.

   You are very welcome. There are two ways to accomplish this:
   
   - While in editing mode, use the up/down arrows on the text capsule to get it where you want it to be, OR
   
   - While in editing mode, use the "drag and drop reorder" feature. You can see that from the upper right corner of your screen. It is like a list of your capsules, which can be reordered by you re-arranging the items on that list. Simply use your mouse to move the capsules on the list around until you got the desired order. Then the actual capsules will be rearranged automatically.

      The drag and drop reorder feature has soooooo been improved since I started with HP. It's much more user friendly now.

   I have to cut my text up into separate text boxes and add the photos where I want them, in between the boxes or flush right at the top or bottom of said box. That way a photo can be placed anywhere WITHIN the text. So basically - cut and paste your whole text and make it several text boxes.

      You cannot place pictures "within" text or put photos whereever you want them - only (a) above a text or other capsule, (b) below a text or other capsule, or (c) align the text and image capsules side by side, with the image placed on the right. I see that you have no published hubs, but you are on the right track.

         I'm working on my first. And I made several text boxes. Inserted my pictures aligned right wherever within the appropriate text box. This way it looks as though it's "within" text. Does that seem appropriate? To have several separate text boxes with photos between them or flush right of the beginning or end of paragraphs?

            That seems to be what most hubbers, including myself, do.  I dislike a photo between text boxes; if left large it is too large and disrupts the flow of text and if shrunk it looks funny to me although I have used that method a very few times.
            
            A suggestion, though; when you are through writing the hub, post a link in the extreme makeover forum and ask for a critique.  You may not like it, but it will most likely be honest and is worthwhile (I've done a few and the advice was invaluable).

   Wilderness, I agree, for most purposes that layout works well. Just be sure to have enough text in each capsule so that the images don't appear to float around surrounded by white space.

      Absolutely!  When I first started I was using a large font size on my browser (we old geezers need large print) and it looked good.  Unfortunately, when someone with a default, normal, font size saw the hub it was full of white space around the photos all too often.
      
      It gave me fits until I figured out that the large font stretched the text capsule but not the photos.  Since then I've decreased the font size back to default and use the cntrl-scroll (on FireFox) to enlarge everything.  No more white space now, but I had some work to do correcting everything I'd done before I figured it out.

         Thank you all! I'll be done with it soon. I meant for it to be more of a review but it turned into a review/blog of my experience at Tanglewood Festival of Lights. Is that appropriate for hubpages?
