January - A bad month

   I seen a recent post where somebody said January was really bad for them.  Many other people also said January is a bad month for adsense (generally) because advertisers are not paying as much since its Post-Xmas.
   
   I hope this is true because idk if I am personally doing bad, or if a lot of it has to do with advertisers etc.
   
   My traffic mirrors last month, but its going in the depths of hell so to speak.

      I've been doing great, except yesterday. It was my worst day in probably over a month. I made a staggering $0.32 or so.

      Two straight days of $0.00 for me and less than 100 views per day. I'm curious to see if it picks up in Feb.

   I had a good three or four days this January but overall it seems like the average CPC has dropped for many keywords.

      Yeah, the CPC for me must be down. I am glad that my traffic is similar, but the income is not good ironically. I might only be getting 10 cents per click.
      
      I guess the long run is what matters the most.

   Same for me, traffic is gaining momentum but earnings are still down. I think February and March will be good months to recover decreased earnings from January.

   I actually use Adwords. When you set a keyword you bid your price for where you want it to position. During the year the keyword price fluctuates, up and down.
   
   Adwords automatically adjusts your bids for this.
   
   In answer to this post, since about December 23 right through to now, my highest costing keyword is now amongst my lowest ones.
   
   It will pick up soon as more advertisers return to the market and start up their campaigns again.

   It's only a bad month, if you don't plan for it. My January sales are just as good as March, April, May whatever.

   Last January was bad for me, as far as Adsense is concerned. I'm surprised, however, that so far this month, my earnings have been good! I hope saying this doesn't jinx it. lol

      I hope its true what your saying Oli, this is my first proper January since begining to earn quite a lot, Ive had very low earnings this month  and the same traffic and clicks as before like David said, but Ive also been putting in lots of work so I hope I am rewarded for it next month.

   It happens to me too. Also, I saw others have a similar trend.
   
   People spend a lot for Christmas and new year, so this month is 'fasting month' for many.
   
   Hopefully next month people's 'purchasing power' back to the normal level..

    I'm guessing it depends on what kind of hubs you have.  I have many workout hubs which have been getting daily highs of traffic.  I like to think this is because everyone is trying to follow through with new years resolutions, with many of them being getting in shape!
    
    So, for me, January is on pace to be the best month yet (with December being the previous best).

    January is right on course with everything as far as traffic and adsense goes.  I must admit I did plan poorly for Amazon sales though...  Looks like I learned my lesson for next year.

    So are you guys all seeing a drastic drop in earnings?  I believe it is seasonal.  I heard holiday season is great and yea it was.  But this month is just plain bad lol.  I went from $20 to $10 a day. Occasionally it hits back but seriously

    Yup I think January sucks for most people. It's the post holidays, everyone is slowly getting back to work, the first week your basically doing nothing but slowly getting back to work, and then your bills start coming instead of the first of January the second week or so. Everything is just slow and backed up in January. Usually once the 1st of January is gone everyone is kind of grouchy and wants stuff to get rolling quick and January is just like a dead month. It's like blah and no matter what you do in January work wise etc it's just creeps until usually like February. Sometime in February something clicks and things are back to normal and into the swing of things. I find it generally like the 2nd week or so in February things are into full swing (companies are back to interviewing, hiring and just in full swing mode).

    Earnings depend not only on the time of year but also on the content category. Some categories are highly seasonal, such as travel.
