You work at home types ever feel overwhelmed?

   I notice that lately I've had a hard time picking things to work on. Not because I don't have much to do but because I have so MUCH to do!
   
   I sit there, ready to dive into work, thinking of what I should do. I realize I have 3 sites needing updating, a new product page to make, new site still needing working on.
   
   Suddenly I just freeze, not know what to do first. So,,,, I come here and post a thread about if others feel overwhelmed!
   
   Anyone else who works at home have this problem?

      Yeah I do, fortuantely I have just downgraded my job, pay is slightly lower for now, but The job is much lower stress!

   Absolutely.
   And it's not that I don't want to work on the paid work, either. It's interesting and I know I will feel better when I get it done.
   But sometimes it's just hard to get started and stay focused.
   
   Depending on the project mix, sometimes I pick the "most fun" project to get my juices flowing.
   Sometimes I chunk things up -- do 1 page, take a HP break, do another page,take a HP break, etc.
   
   Isn't it great, tho, to have HP?
   Even if it's just to know others out there are going through the same thing!

      Glad I helped, it makes me feel good to know others are out there with this same problem! Now if only I can stop checking this and get to work,,,,,,,

   Overwhelmed invariably leads to 'stuck' in my experience!  I really know what both of you are getting at.  I seem to have so many ideas floating around in my head, I'm not sure which one to write.

      Yup, I get that too. Sometimes I spend hours just emailing affiliates and sites with all my new questions and inquires as I explore new ideas.

         yep same here, i am tired and exhausted by all the time by how much i have to do in the day, add being a mom to a toddler help yea, exhausted is an understatement, lol

   I work both in and out of the home.
   
   when I'm at home, I have to write down the night before somewhat of a schedule, or I'm not focused. I find that I can't really get going until I've had breakfast, coffee and a walk.
   
   I'm used to following a very structured, predictable schedule, so having these full days at home can be overwhelming at times unless I make out a time schedule and follow it. When I check the time and see I only have an hour left to do something.. it seems to help.

   I find this as well Bill, at present I have 3 websites earning a little, most of my earnings come from hubs but obviously I have countless other blogs and article hotspots...On top of that I do a ton of backlinking and I really need to set up a list.
   Roll on April when I'll be in it full time!

   I sometimes think that however much writing or other work I do, that it will never be enough! Some days manage to be a lot more productive than others - some days I can just fritter away time doing bitty things that are not really all that important

   Thank goodness im not the only one who feels this way.
   I have a zillion ideas to put down, but sometimes i never know where to start.
   
   Spend too much time doing nothing many times. Popping in and out of forums, sometimes too lazy to leave a post. Going in and out of adsense, checking my earnings every 3 hours. Sometimes, just staring at my laptop blankly.
   
   But there are days when im roaring and ready to go. Not enough of such days though

   Yep - but mine's with external stuff rather than the work. I get distracted by people. My man is great - leaves me be, even brings me hot coffees in and among (when he's around) and though I'm hard to resist (of course ... ) he slinks quietly away again.
   
   But my daughter, THE DAMN DOG, friends, sons and family in general - not so. Reckon they think I sit around watching crazy tv shows or I dunno - doodling.
   
   Love them all (except the dog - she'll get ideas otherwise) but they drive me nuts sometimes

    Yes, and I've been incubating a Hub about this very thing and how I alleviated it to some degree.  (I haven't solved the problem completely, though, which is why the Hub remains in the "incubator" and isn't yet written, simply because I have too much stuff to do and am too overwhelmed to write a Hub that requires real attention and a more professional approach than the "verbal spewing" I tend to do in Hubs when I need a break from work.)

    You are definitely not alone Bill. I'm self employed and work out of my home and since it's winter here the work is slow but it takes priority over what I do here on HP. I currently have 42 hubs/URL's waiting for me to write but for the past couple of weeks I planned on working on them but "stuff" came up and I had to postpone them.  Then it gets late in the day and even though I know I need to get to them, my mind is just not into it. I really need to scale back my extracurricular activities.

    Wow, so many have the same problem I do I see. I'm sorry you all do, but I admit it makes me feel better to know I'm not alone.
    
    Sometimes it's best to just go for a walk or do something else. Then when you get back you feel you really have to get something done!

    No, I don't. Internet marketing just suits me and I've always been able to set priorities easily. I also have also been able to pick niches, products, and write marketing copy very quickly.
    
    I know when something like, learning PHP is going to take some time and I just deal with it.

    Too many shiny toys. I resent that I have to spend time sleeping.  It annoys me that so much of what I want to do has nothing to do with earning my living.
    
    But - it beats being a wage slave five million times over.

    Yes, quite often! I have a few different tactics I use...like opening up Word documents and naming them the night before, then writing the articles. Or I'll write a list of all the things I need to do, then start down the list. If that doesn't work, I tear the list into shreds and draw tasks/domains/article titles out of a hat. One way or another, I WILL get something done...or I'll justify wandering over to Netflix streaming and curling up on the couch with my husband, because eventually I will write a review on the movie, so it really is work...honest!

    No.  Why, just today I have driven to an isolated sawmill to get some tongue and groove heart pine to replace some older wood in a circa 1900 home my son just bought.  Arranged to give one of my trucks to a cousin so he can travel to a new job in Florida. 
    
    Besides visiting my elderly mom, I also hauled hay to my cattle herd, and took the only female I know never to have lied to me, (my Jack Russel terrier, Ally) for a mile long hike in our woods, as well as written the better part of a hub.
    
    Piece of cake, life is!

    Yes, Bill, I know how you feel. I'm usually fine, but I've been having to take care of a sick grandchild and haven't had much energy to write. I have been trying to force myself to write at least 2 or 3 paid articles a day, though.
