            You asked for the most effective way. "Most effective way," those are your words. That is the most effective way. I promise you, all your neighbors are wishing they could shoot it as they lie awake listening to it knowing that the sleep they are losing is going to make their tomorrow miserable.

               It takes a special kind of person to be cruel to animals and I don't mean that in a good way.  BTW, not my dog.

                  It takes a special kind of person to assume that they have the right to inject an animal that they have no ability, motivation, or time to train properly into their neighborhood and disrupt the sleep patterns of their neighbors.

      A dog trainer told me to hold their snout closed and say NO with a firm voice then let go. If they bark do it again until they make the connection

               You just posted a bunch of nonsense threads, it looks like you are trying to "build a conversation" following one of the internet marketing blueprints that are sold online in enormous quantities. Most of them use dog training topic for examples, hence my comment on this thread.

                  Does anyone sell conversational dog blueprints online? Because that would be a nice slant on this, you could really capitalize on the same keywords but have a unique product.

                        Figure out how to make a conversational dog, you know, a dog you can converse with, then draw up the blueprints on how you do this, and sell it.
                        
                        
                        
                        Not really your ESL, just me being, like you, bored, and therefore doing my typical beer-swilling, absurd, cynical thing (with marginal humorous effect at best--sigh). I should go write a hub, but I think I lack the discipline for it, and I had a crappy day on top of a crappy week, so I fear bitter will be all that pours from the pitcher of my prose tonight.

      Actually, Rafini, you aren't too far offbase, although you may have meant something else. I moved a sofa away from the large bay window in my living room because my dog lay on the back of the sofa and watched everything that moved in the neighborhood. And barked at it.
      
      When I moved the sofa and put up drapes, when the drapes are closed, she plays with her toys in another part of the room and doesn't pay as much attention to what's going on outside because it's not so readily visible to her. She will bark if a large unknown dog passes our house, but I don't mind if she does that since she and I were both attacked by a large dog several years ago.
      
      I've also spent much time with her training her what "Quiet" means and rewarding her immediately when she stops barking and gets QUIET. She's stopped barking at the mail carrier when I'm in the room, and will stop if I come into the room and say, "Quiet!" 
      
      I don't stop her from barking if she's alerting me to someone (other than the mail carrier) coming into our front yard or up to the door. After all, she's my watch dog!  But she's not barking at everything that moves and that is a relief!

   have you read cesar book very good tips on how to keep dog from barking when dog starts barking call her or him distract the dog  from what it is doing when dog is calm reward with plenty of fuss
