What are the things you look for when judging who is a great frontman? Live performances, Stage Presents, Showmanship the ability to get a crowd into the music. A persona off an on stage whether it be humble or charasmatic and distinct singing style. All those qualities go into making a great frontman and heres the top ten.

    1. Freddie Mercury.
What can I say hes the greatest singer and live performer of all time. His on stage performances are unmatched his vocals and shomanship on stage was his strongest attributes. Queen is one of the greatest bands ever and Freddie has all the qualities of a great frontman and there will never be another one like him.

    2. Mick Jagger.
The Rolling Stones singer is the most charasmatic rocker to ever live. His on stage groove and performances began over fourty years ago and continue to this day. Hes the ultimate rockstar and has a legacy that will last forever.

    3. Robert Plant.
Robet Plants unique singing style and on stage presents makes Plant a true rock god. Led Zepplin is often regarded as one of the greatest bands ever.

    4. Jim Morrison.
Jims off stage charisma and party lifestyle was apart of his public persona his on stage vocals and distinct sound define him. But drugs took over his life he left the rock scene and moved to Paris but died in 1971 aged 27 the circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery to this day.

    5. Steven Tyler.
Tyler is a true rock legend Aerosmith have made hits decade after decade Tyler has a wicked scream and his live performances are legend.

    6. Bono.
U2s Bono has been in the spotlight since the 80s his activisim off stage is also well known helping in Live Aids hes met Presidents and has become one of the most famous muscians ever. Bono has a distinct vocal sound and is a great live performer.

    7. Brian Johnson.
After Bon Scotts death a new singer was found in Brian Johnson he has continued ACDCs success and made classic albums and songs he continues to serve as singer for ACDC in his 60s and still deliveres his well known vocal sound live.

    8. Axl Rose.
Axl Rose lived the rock n roll lifestyle for years as Guns N Roses frontman he continues to this day under the name GnR even though all of the original members have left. Axl is known for his arrogant attitude which is the main reason the band broke up he has also been involved in alot of controversy over the years.

    9. Johny Rotten.
The Sex Pistols were the first punk rock band and Johnys attitude and in your face style defines what punk rock is about. Sex Pistols are still talked about to this day and have influenced many bands over the years.

    10. Liam Gallagher.
Gallaghors on stage walk and hand behind his back stance during live performances has become his own style. His attitude over the years has brought controversy and hatred from many. His singing style and off stage persona have shaped his image for years.

Queen, Live Aid, Wembley - best example of how to work a crowd ever?  I find it spine tingling although that's partly sciatica.

Personally I wouldn't bother with anyone else in my top ten because I haven't seen anyone grab an audience like that ten minutes or so.  It's all on Youtube of course if anyone hasn't seen the greatest live performance ever.  Arguably.

Great topic ie "Frontman", most I agree with, one I didnt (Liam Gallagher ).

    Here is my own list.

    1. Bono
U2 have released some of the greatest songs of our lifetime whilst their concerts are stuff of legend, genius.

    2. Freddie Mercury
The only frontman with the ability to work an audience like Bono and stole the show at Live Aid.  Towards his latter years his quality of music diminished but his reputation as a frontman untarnished.

    3. Mick Jagger
To leave Jagger off a list like this would be crazy he fully deserves to be in the top 5 as the frontman of one of the greatest bands of all time.  He would be higher only for their continous "greatest hits" tours.

    4. Bruce Springsteen (& The E-street Band)
The Boss plays for nearly 3 hours and has the audience in the palm of his hand the whole time.  To do that you must be some frontman.

    5. Jon Bon Jovi
While Bon Jovi's music is not to everyones liking they are one of the few bands big enough to still be playing stadium shows 20 years after they started out, much of that owing to Jon Bon Jovi's charisma.

I have not mentioned Jim Morrisson and some of the other acts mentioned in your list as I never had the pleasure of seeing them live.

    Honourable mention - Michael Hutchence,

I find it most amusing that you were so damning of Pete Doherty's drug addiction and then produce a list of frontmen consisting of at least six, probably seven, former heroin addicts. Where is Kurt Cobain, thought Nirvana were one of the most influential bands of all time?
