I'm new, and I was wondering if any form of literature, such as a poem or story, would be an acceptable hub subject. I'd appreciate someone's help on this, cause I'd rather not have my wrist slapped for posting inappropriate content.

This would certainly be appropriate, many hubbers write poetry.  I agree with the others who say traffic will not be as high as with other subjects.  I would be curious to see how fiction works out, given internet surfers attention spans and given what other suggest about hub length, etc.

I would be more afraid of some one copying  your  work and posting it elsewhere taking full credit for it.

There are a few people that do poems, but don't really know about stories...you can write whatever you want, I believe, but if you are here to make some cash, then you will want to focus on those topics that generate traffic from search engines like google, yahoo, etc.......

I agree with djtphn1. Just don't break the HubPages Rules. Good luck! smile

Pretty much, you can write what you like as long as you follow the rules.

And don't worry, you'll know when you've broken them.

And there are plenty of reasons to write here other than to make money.

    Welcome to hubpages

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've seen that there are a few poets around here, and have published some. Maybe you should check them out.

I think a story really would be overdoing it, so I'll omit those...

And special thanks to Mark Knowles who sees past the monetary side of things.

That's always a risk whenever you put something on the internet.

      That's the right attitude!

I'd rather let it all hang out there and take my chance than keep it hidden away on my hard drive.

Yes, that is so right. The internet really does defeat intellectual copyright.
