My partner and I watched what I am guessing is yet another spin off of Star Trek called Star Trek Phase II. It's interesting that a lot of the Charactor's shared the same names as they were from the original Star Trek series. Spock, Doctor McCoy, and Captain Kirk, only this was obviously a newer program with different actors.
I know it must be new, because two of the crew members in this episode were gay, and planning to get married. The acting was kind of so-so, but, it got better as it went along, and the story was fairly decent. But, it was a bit predictable.
I am wondering if this came out before Generations. Because I thought that the Federation were allies with the Klingons in Generations, and in this one they were still the enemy. But, I didn't really follow Star Trek, so I don't know for sure. But, this version is nowhere near as high tech as Generations.
I wonder if there are any more episodes of Phase II? Does anyone know?
Yes, there are several episodes. www.startreknewvoyages.com and forums.startreknewvoyages.com . A fan based group headquartered in Ticonderoga NY and filming in Port Henry, NY. Been releasing episodes since 2004. Several episodes in post production and due for release in 2011 - 2012.
The group utilizes actors and crew from around the world!
The web series is at NO cost to fans and is tolerated by TPTB as long as NO profit is made!
The series is set as the fourth and fifth years of the original series. Very low budget and p[aid for by those involved with some donations of materials and cash by a few of its fans.
Do check the web and forum sites above!
Star Trek New Voyages / Phase II is the current official name for this Retro Film Studios LLC free Star Trek web series!
Oh cool, I'll have to check that out! I love stuff like this.
"two of the crew members in this episode were gay, and planning to get married"
Kirk and Spock by any chance?
No, but you are close. It was Kirks Nephew (Peter?) and another crew member (Freman), pretty pg-13 bedroom scene in there, and some man to man kissing. I'm guessing that this was probably made for television, but was probably only shown on a small cable network.
Looks like GE 1947 knows more about the series than I do. Thanks for the info GE. I will look into it. However, I wonder with the success of the recent Star Trek movie, might hold back the release of this low budget stuff. As I hear they are planning on doing another Star Trek film based on the younger Captain kirk. That was a very well done film.
I also checked out the site. It is a lot bigger than I thought. The Original Sulu is a cast member, only he plays a different role. Interesting.
Sounds like it's a fan-made web series from what GE said, so it probably couldn't air on TV without TBTB siccing the lawyers on them. I doubt they could do Kirk/Spock either, but cool about Peter and his partner. Keeping it in the family, as it were.

My three favorites are, in order: 1. Heroes2. Farscape3. FireflySomething I really enjoyed about these three is that each episode follows and builds on the previous episodes. Some series like "Star Trek" do not always do that... excepting the development of personal relationships. What...

Old Star Trek vs. New Star Trek?I honestly dig both. Star Trek Voyager and TNG was in my childhood as well as the original Star Wars trilogy. Don't too fond of the prequels. JJ Abram's Star Trek was near perfect...hmm. Which is better? I choose new Star Trek as it has more Star Wars elements in it....

According to various sources, it's been reported that at the annual star trek convention in nevada, they did a poll ranking all the star trek films. In fact, they even included "Galaxy Quest", which was sort of a light tongue and cheek comedy that paid homage to the original star...
