I was reading another article in my online paper about the jobless. There were many comments so I decided to be helpful and just described how you can make money online with places like Hubpages.

Most just don't get it. Replies to my comment went along the lines of "you need to have $10,000 to make a website, then think up a new product nobody else sells, it's all saturated bla bla bla,,,,, hmm

The thought of how you don't sell ANYTHING but just write and it's all free seems to be something they just can't grasp.

Even if you make your own website you own you can do that with a single twenty dollar bill! They just don't get it,,,,,,tongue

That's alright, if they don't get it they probably won't be creative enough to think up something interesting to write.

And then they'd be likely to skim off other peoples ideas and write low quality garbage that's not readable or interesting.

Yeah, most people don;t believe you can make money without spending a lot. In reality, you do not need to spend anything, and even if you do, it does not have to be much at all really.

When I tell friends and family that I do internet marketing, they ask a few questions and then seem to get it.

Yeah I know. I tried telling someone about it whom I know could really benefit from it. Getting divorced, can't work, on the dole.. She refuses to take me seriously. Or maybe she was discouraged by my - "if you can string together an intelligible sentence or two..."

    I'm not really sure.

Oh well. More keywords for us!

LOL I have the same problem when I tell people.  I also have people who think that working from home isn't really work.  They really make me mad.

OMG! I am trying to get to the point where all I do is work from home.

I'm just trying to keep building quality hubs and really learn hubpages, but I love it! love it and love it!

I haven't made much, but it feels GREAT to make something from something you really love to do and are not forced to do--like my job! ha!

Hi Bill - and Hi Pando its nice to see you popping in and out the forums causing trouble again big_smile

I think you are both wrong (no surprise there ah!) people are scared of doing creative stuff and the idea of the obstacles grows out of all proportion.  Not everyone has both a bit of imagination and the ability to put virtual pen to virtual paper.

      Yes, indeed.

But if they never make any money, we will be supporting them with taxes or they'll become criminals, so I do try to help them get started.

It can be frustrating, though smile

The hardest part of working from home is getting the wife to understand over everyone else.  Working from home seems to involve an awful lot of putting up shelves, reaching things on high shelves and lifting heavy objects.

I've found that some people think they just don't have the knowledge to do it. I tell them I'll help get them started, but they just put their hands up. They don't get it, because they think it's just beyond them.

Although I have tried and tried to get people to sign up to Hubpages under me, hardly anyone has even attempted it.
But when you think about it, if making money online was that easy, everybody would be doing it already.
Not everyone can write, and even fewer will attempt it, thinking that writing is all about the grammar that they failed at school.
But hey come on, that's all the more room for us smile
If everyone in the world went online and wrote website content, most of us would be making zilch.

Sounds like everyone here is pretty happy most don't get it! lol

Yeah I've tried to help family members work on the net and it was all for nothing. I guess if they can't figure it out they would not be any good anyway. smile

I tried to tell a friend of mine about using hubpages, but he says he can't do it. I don't believe him. He has the personality of a writer.

He spent a few years learning (teaching himself) how to record music using programs on the computer which are very complicated. If he can do that, then he can do this.

He could prob incorporate his musical knowledge on to hubpages or even make a site about stuff.

I've tried telling friends and family that are in tough financial situations about earning an income online. I've suggested designing, writing for upfront and residual, niche blogging and affiliate marketing. But, they usually think it's a scam. Or, that they're not skilled enough to do it. There's always a rebuttal for my suggestions, so I just keep my mouth shut now.
