eating out is usually unhealthy and it takes away from your pocket, so what is one benefit?, besides the social and I guess making it a date with our partner.
We only eat out once a month at a really tasty Indian place here in Milwaukee! I'm a pretty good cook and money is always an issue. Nice to have a treat tho!
You are in the wrong country then - we eat out for most meals here in China. The healthy delicious cooking and tons of veg with a little meat are hard to beat at home - and soooo cheap! Breakfast for me now is 'tang fen' rice noodles in a clear soup with a trivial sprinkle of meat and some veg in it, if I am really hungry it gets a soya boiled egg and a 'yo tiao' which is a kind of deep fried batter/bread stick. 4.5 Yuan, around 60 cents. Lunch is stri fry veg wit a few slices of beef or pork or liver, rice, + soup - about dollar and a half, and diner much the same but with a couple dishes of green veg usually - about 2 dollars. Altogether less than 4 dollars and no cleaning up the kitchen, no meeting your chicken before it gets the chop, no dragging piles of veg home, no steaming up the house - and I get more time with Sukie
With those prices, it would be stupid to cook at home.
Oh, I am s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o--o-o-o- ooooo jealous!
I hate cooking. But I have to. Out I cannot afford.
in this economy I rarely eat out anymore...i cook just about every meal..
I may be healthier for it as well.
I went out for a pizza last night.
To be honest, since smoking was banned in restaurants here a couple of years ago, I rarely go out to eat. When I do, it's in, eat, and out again. In the old days when smoking was allowed, we'd have a few (or quite a few) more drinks after eating, and eventually a coffee before leaving.
I love going out to eat and there was a time in my life when I was very young that "cook" was a dirty word. But these days I enjoy preparing my own meals, but I still don't necessarily cook. I construct, making elaborate salads, etc. I have my own gardens and I try to keep my food as raw and organic as possible. I also like to bake different kinds of breads.
I love cooking at home. I eat out once in a while but I like it to be place where I can see how clean kitchens are!
I enjoy cooking and eating out. I prefer cooking on the weekends when there is time to prepare a nice dinner. The weekdays are so hectic that it is so much easier eating out or ordering out. With this economy though, the during the week dinners have definitely become more home prepared meals.
I prefer to eat out, then you have as much choice as you like instead of what's in the fridge but eating in is also nice as it is comfortable
Eating as well as cooking should be a part of your life. To be really healthy it will help if you learn to cook and eat the right foods. It is not as hard as it seems, but you have to not be afraid to start. So, big deal if you burn your food a few times or if your first couple of dishes don't taste as they should, try again and again and you'll get it right.
Mostly, I cook at home, as I enjoy the process of cooking, but I do eat out a couple of times a week. Not anywhere special though, just at the local supermarket cafe. I would eat out more, as I hate the washing up, but it is beyond my pocket.
we eat in most days. i cook out of the American Heart Association Cookbook or Johns Hopkins Recipes for Weight Loss. my husband cleans up. we have pizza, chinese buffet, or panera about twice per week. occasionally we do red lobster or mexican or a local fine dining place.
would eat indian (well, we do some curries at home) if there were a place nearby.

Do you prefer to cook your own meals or go out to eat?I enjoy cooking evening meals, but too often I hear people complain that they don't have the time to cook. They would rather spend an hour or more in a restaurant. Does that not take time? Which do you prefer - cooking or dining out - and why?

Our kids are far from overweight or obese but they have larger appetites than my wife and I. Generally, how much of this behavior can be attributed to them actually developing or them only wanting to eat out of boredom.Any other parents made this observation or have this concern? Thanks.

How often do you prepare home cooked meals? These days it seems more and more people are going to the fast food restaurants. Cooking is becoming a lost art.

Do you think that children should learn to bake and cook?
