I live in Michigan, and we are currently under a blizzard warning.
They just had a report of lighting storms near Chicago mixed in with the Blizzard conditions. It's not the first time I have seen lightning in a blizzard, but the amount of lightning near Chicago is said to be the most on record.

I am sitting in my apartment next to a closed window, and the wind is coming right through any gap it can find. 40 plus mile and hour winds, and subzero wind chill. It is very cold in my apartment even though we have the heat on full blast! Expecting 13 to 21 inches of snow here before morning.

I usually try not to go anywhere in weather like this. Glad I am not working right now, because I would probably have had to be out driving in it. Employers don't care about the weather, there could be a snow tornado, and an earthquake, and the would still expect you to be at work, and not be a second late.

Now that I said all that, what kind of weather do you have where you live? And, what do you do to prepare for bad weather where you live. I sure could go for being someplace warm right now.

We had a snow storm warning from Feb. 1-2, but it was not really that bad. Maybe Canadians are used to this kind of stuff. I took the photo in the afternoon of Feb. 2, which shows a small snow removal vehicle working to clean the street.

This is what our parking lot at my apartment complex looked like on February 2, 2011. the morning after the storm when we got 18 inches of snow in just 6 hours. Plus thunder and lightning.

Grew up in that stuff when they used blame weather such as you are having now on nuclear
bomb testing. Bay Area, California sunny, warm
    and balmy. Sorry kiddo.

The weather here in the NE is terrible right now.  We already had a couple of feet of snow on the ground, and today we got another 8 inches or so.  Tomorrow, we're getting what's left of what you're looking at outside your window.  Ugh.  When will winter end?

I went out today to take pictures of the aftermath of last nights blizzard. According to the local weather channel we received an additional 16 inches of snow in less than 6 hours, along with thunder and lightning. I was up until 3 a.m. and the snow that came in after midnight was really amazing, and very cool.

We are still under a winter weather advisory, but they say we won't be getting any more snow, just a lot of blowing and drifting of what is already on the ground, which can cause an instant whiteout.
I have been in a couple of those recently, leaves you feeling helpless when you are on the road.

If you would like to see video of what the Blizzard of 2011 left behind. I have a link to my Youtube page in my profile. Feel free to check out my other videos while you are there.

I sure wish it would snow good where I live >.< Have the warning 'til tomorrow evening, but looks like the clouds are already clearing up. It started to look like it was going to be a good snow, but there's mostly just ice. It makes me sad sad

Yeah, Snowpocalypse 2011 was pretty much a bust here in the Cornhusker state, or maybe we're just used to it. We only got about 4-6 inches of snow. Windchill temps were -20-30 overnight, which is unpleasant, but -50 during the day isn't unheard of here, so while they did cancel schools, most adults were pretty much going about their business as usual.
