Quitting my job to be a SAHM.

   Although I haven't been on here much lately due to crazy weather in Qld, work and moving house, just thought I'd let you know that I've officially resigned from my job and will be finishing up on the 31st of March.
   
   I want to stay home full time with my daughter, start earning serious money online and get my first book written.
   
   Hopefully I'll be around more in a couple of months!

      Glad you're okay after everything that's happened in QLD. My sister was right where the cyclone hit but she's fine so I'm happy.

      I hope everything works out with your new career path.
      If finances allow it,I think for young children a SAHM is a great thing. My wife was a SAHM for 14 years until our youngest of three children went to school.

      I'm also contemplating the same thing but I won't be a SAHM because we don't have kids yet .

      Very nice. I wish you best of luck with this - but remember, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Earn from various mediums.

      Congrats!  Exciting times.  I stayed home with both of my daughters and that's how I became a marketer full time.  Love it!

   I am wishing you a sh*tload of good fortune with your decision on this. This is never an easy choice to make, but you have chosen to pursue a dream, something many Australians don't even consider to risk trying. When you get those occasional sleepless nights when things seem a little rough or a little tight, don't panic, just keep at it.
   
   Very glad to hear you and yours are OK, firstly that you've had floods and this horror that was Tropical Cyclone Yasi and you have passed through both unscathed.
   
   Make sure you provide us the first read rights to us on HubPages when your book appears on Amazon.

   Glad to hear your sister is fine as well. I am awaiting to hear back from someone I know and have not heard as yet, but I know the person well and they would have contacted me if they even broke a nail (so to speak). So one way or another I will know come tomorrow.

   Good for you!  You daughter needs you and you can make good money writing and working from home.  Many times with the money women have to dish out for childcare along with money for gas and lunch,  they are not making that much more.  Great decision...Go Mom!

   Good on ya mate! I'm being furloughed for a few months. I was supposed to be done at the end of January, but I probably have at least one more day's work to leave things in some semblance of order. (My departure officially shuts down the corporate communications department!)
   
   BTW, it was an email exchange with you about 5-6 months ago that convinced me to join HP. Then the MGOH contest pushed the launch button. Thanks for your input.

   If it is something that you can afford to do then it is great, do it!. You get to enjoy the special moments you would have missed while at work. I became a SAHM for the first time 3 years ago. Even though it has its perks I do get a bit lonely and since I do not drive I get cabin fever too...

    It has its pluses and minuses. It's certainly good for children. Less stress for a mom (not always). Good luck, anyway,Wry! Just don't forget the REASON you quit, it's the most important.

    Good for you. Dig in your heels and resolve never to go back working for anyone else. The best advice I ever got was to keep making at least $1 dollar of PROFIT more each month than you did before. That sounds easy but in difficult economic times it can be hard to keep growing. But it's essential if it's supporting your family and future.

    How exciting for you!  I left public school teaching when my first was born, and I've loved every minute of being home with my babies...nearly 18 years, and counting!  May you be blessed in all that you put your hands to!

    Good luck! I quit work when my youngest was born (my older son was 20 months old and also loved daycare). It took a little bit of adjustment, but I love it now! The first year was difficult since both boys were babies and I missed the intellectual stimulation and adult conversation... but I found a few great mothers of preschoolers groups, which were great! I'm still home, though my little one will be in kindergarten in two years, so I might go back to work part-time when he starts school.
