Apparently Google is slowly implementing a major Google Algorithm change that has started on January 30th. Yesterday I posted a thread in the help section wondering why my new hubs weren't being listed in Google since the 30th of January.

After some research I learned that Google is implementing an algorithm change that is meant to drop sites that have copied (scraped) content from other sites. This should be good for all of us honest original content hubbers! Hope everybody's rankings rise in the coming days.

P.S. One of my sites that hasn't been listed since I published it on Jan 30th finally made its first appearance in the listings today. I checked back 30 minutes later and it was gone. It has appeared and disappeared all day. It will be very interesting to see how everything settles out.

P.S.S. I also noticed that once when I was checking out Google's "new" listings that were up for a short time, whenever you hovered your mouse over a listing a picture of the website appeared on the right side of the page.

I have heard about that algorithm change where Google will penalize copied content... But how is that related to your hubs not getting indexed, were they copied or something?

No, they are 100% original. I think that there is just a delay as google is implementing the change in how they are listing the results. My new pages are now being listed, and then disappearing from the results. All of my old hubs are where they normally are. I am happy that Google will be penalizing scraped content.

It's also possible that HP is under suspicion - there IS a lot of copied stuff here in spite of staff's efforts to weed it out.

I just accidentally stumbled on one that's been here for years. The original was written by a Technet author.  I suppose it is remotely possible that he is writing here under an alias, but I doubt it. I reported it as possible stolen content - I would hope staff would look at all her hubs and perhaps ban her.

Maybe you are rite about the delay, but as you mentioned in another thread, you check for indexing by typing your hub's URL into the search bar, so that should show the hubs. Anyways, it never is easy to judge what Google is up to. smile

Yeah, I was pasting my hub's url to see if it was listed. They are popping in and out of the listings currently. I googled "major algorithm change january 30th 2011" and there are already a lot of results in forums talking about the change thats going on as we speak. Hopefully we will jump up over all of the scraper sites in the coming days!
