And I can’t take it anymore...
I am humbly asking for ISP recommendations for DSL.
In USA.
Who do you recommend,
And,
Who to avoid like the plague.
I thank you in advance for your help. My initial research resulted in a quagmire.
Like another mentioned here, for DSL I have used Qwest with MSN. It was decent enough, especially in comparison with dial-up. Though now I use broadband with Comcast and it's much faster.
You can do a speed test to see how your connection is. I think the site I used to check mine was speedtest.net. I think it also tells you how that compares with other internet users.
Oh and I'm a penny pincher so I've never paid much over 60 for my phone and internet and I have unlimited long distance.
Dial-up here also. HughesNet is available, but why pay 5 times what I am paying now for only doubling my internet speed? And no guarantee of better service?
I know people who have had HughesNet and they cancelled it.
We have the new Suddenlink U-Verse lines run on the poles in front of my home, but Suddenlink says they are not for this area.
(SuddenLink is being used a 1/4 mile up the road)
Still getting nowhere on the research.
I shall flip a coin.
I am still interested in best priced ISP.
And who to avoid for whatever reason.
I use MSN through my qwest telephone company. At one time I had landline, cell phone, TV and web services, but have dropped all but TV and the DSL line for internet only (no landline). Cost is about $30 for both the dsl line + MSN. I'm happy with it.
No wonder my internet connection has turned to crap…
I just read a news article that Verizon is sabotaging connection speeds for heavy users in order to get rid of them.
A belated thank you to Michael Willis and to wilderness.
And thank you, nell79.
Two votes for Qwest with MSN. I will check it out.
I use uVerse, it is not the best in the world but it works.

"AT&T, along with other providers of landline phones, will be actively phasing out their landline services soon in response to the FCC Landline Shutdown Order 19-72. U.S. service providers will be required to offer customers an alternative to landlines and use devices to convert analog...

What upload speed should I get on a 4mb ADSL connection?I've recently upgraded my adsl connection so that I can apply for an online job. The problem is that I need at least 512kbps upload speed. I've upgraded my connection from 1mb to 4mb and I'm still getting only 200kbps upload speed. Is...

I know this is probably going to make a lot of people laugh. But, I have a dial up internet connection through People PC, and it is very very SLow!! I live in an area where a dial up connection is the only option, as we do not have cable or Satelite where I am located. A big downgrade from the...
