I know answering requests improves scores but answering our own request does it also improve or on the contrary does it decrease the score(and also does it go against the convention here at hubpages)?
I am asking this question for this particular request and also for a couple of other requests I would like to answer in a while. After the thread that has been going around for "Killing Babies" I felt I should write a hub and then remembered I had initiated a similar request a while ago http://hubpages.com/request/9496/best
And later I want to answer these requests too:
http://hubpages.com/request/9971/best
http://hubpages.com/request/9185/best
http://hubpages.com/request/9630/best
Thanks for looking into this
Very interesting, first make a request. How can I improve my hub score. Next step, You already know the answer. Go ahead & answer it. It's like killing two birds with one empty bullet. #1- You asked the question.
#2- Wow, You answer it yourself too. 5 scores for the question & 5 scores for answering it. 5+5= 10 wow that's 100%. Very creative & easy loophole good luck.
Answering our own request:
I think some already do that and it's not a violation, also nothing is there to affect the score!
Help me to understand - Why would one answer one's own request when one could simply write the Hub to start with?
I don't know when I started out here at hub pages I read that answering requests improves the score. And then when I wanted to write a hub I just remembered that I made a similar request and wanted to know if it is acceptable convention here at hub pages. I didn't know until DingDong told me that there are some folks who are actually doing that. I guess I asked a very silly question. Sorry folks if I have wasted your time. Maybe I should delete this thread
It's possible that if someone requested a particular article and didn't get a response over time, they may have sought out the answers somewhere else and then could share that knowledge by writing a hub and responding to their own request. At least in my mind, that'd be a good thing.
Some of my hubs with very good traffic are from answering requests. However, I do not see the point of answering one's own request, but maybe that is just me. There are lots of great unanswered requests out there already.
I think answering your own requests may work especially if it has sat unanswered.
I've published a hub on health care. Then I made a request for people to answer on that issue, to see what their views were. That seem to work well. But isn't making a request for questions and answers? So if a person answers their own, isn't that telling everyone that you already had the answer? I don't know, food for thought.
SweetiePie- A while ago you hinted that answering requests improves the score and also I was curious whether answering our own request then what the outcome would be i.e., whether it has no effect or positive/negative effect on the score. And all the requests that I planned starting from the first request (My views on Abortion) based on recent inputs in the other thread and other requests like (My Top 20 favorite movies, My Top 10 Favorite books, What I love about University Life) isn't something I don't have answers it is just to get more opinions/views so that I would have good list of books to read and movies to watch (on our Netflix account).
The other aspect I was curious was whether it is acceptable convention and as pointed out by you/patty it seems to be not favored. I don't know whether I should have asked this question in the first place since on second thoughts it looks like a silly question even to me now. Hope you are having a great day. Have a great weekend
ResearchAnalyst- Those requests did elicit some response and I am not answering them because nobody else did?
CarpesMediem/RKHenry- Personally it seems like a good idea to have more opinions/views and then writing a hub based on our own inputs.
Thanks everyone and have a great weekend folks
Countrywomen,
There is nothing wrong with your question and you are too nice to even worry about if it might be wrong . All questions are good questions, but to me I would just not see the point of answering my own request because there are other ones out there. That was my only thought about that.
Answering requests are good for search engine trafic. I suggest answering some of the requests from the idea bank because those tend to be really good.
Hi sweetiepie, cindy & Countrywoman!
Cute avatar sweetiepie good change. Congratulations for hitting the 100 score. Wow, did you get some gold medal....or a VIP status on hubpages just kidding. For some people It's all about score.
Both of you had a logical response to Countrywoman's post. I tried to play with reasoning & some humor too. As you said, why post a question & answer it yourself too. And cindy said & I agree too, that she should face the other hubbers opinion good or bad. After all you wanted other hubbers opinion.
I guess Countrywoman didn't like what I wrote too. Well score is not a big deal, my score only touched the 97 that didn't gave me a gold medal or a VIP status on hubpages. Some people are looking for shortcuts or loopholes to get a 100 score faster than their own ability. For them it's all about achieving 100 score. I guess Countrywoman mix up the Yahoo score with hubpages. At Yahoo whenever you answer a question you get points. I know this personally because I answer question's at Yahoo. Have a nice day everybody.
Mr.Nice- Even after I have clearly explained what those requests where(in my first post/recent post to sweetie pie) and my dilemma if you still consider me trying to exploit a "loophole" then what can I say.
Btw I have never done it before and now I will not even consider doing it. Have a good day.
P.S: This is my last post in this thread and as I have said earlier I feel really stupid (and especially after receiving such a "opinion" of me).

You can find all kind of questions answered in the help section of hubpages. Here is hub score calculation & I guess you might want to know hub ranking method too at hubpages use. Copy from hubpages help section.
Here is how Hubscore is calculated.
The amount of traffic your Hub receives, including traffic from HubPages as well as other outside sources
The length of your Hub
The uniqueness of the content within your Hub (copied content typically scores lower than more unique content)
The number of thumbs-up votes from unique users
The number of comments
The overall value of you as a member of the HubPages community (determined by your HubRank and your Status)
Here is how Hub ranking is done..
Publishing quality Hubs
Commenting on Hubs from other authors
Making requests in the Request section
Answering requests from other authors
Actively participating in the HubPages Forums
For more Information about HubScore & Hub ranking visit the link.

Hi people,
i dont know anything about "requests" and "improving scores". I will be happy to learn what anyone has to say on the issue.Thanks.
Sweetiepie, like your new avatar. Countrywoman, don't take offence. I see what you're getting at. You put in a request for something that you wanted to see what other people's views on it were. Then we've had all that heated discussion on the killing babies forum, and it's made your own point of view on the very sensitive topic, much clearer in your mind and now you're ready to write a hub on it. Go for it. It sounds logical to me and makes sense.
Have a good weekend, Mr Nice, don't get up to too much mischief!
♥♥♥ Hi cindy! How you doing? How is the life in China? The other day I read your GOA trip but had no time to leave a comment, very interesting trip. I will leave a more detailed comment on your hub.
And I was not mischief it was only high jinks......hahaha. Have a wonderful weekend. ♥♥♥

I know that hubpages really pushes for new hubs to be created, and rightfully so. However, I'm thinking it would be nice to be able to "answer a hub request" with an existing hub.So if someone does a hub request for something I've written on (revver videos, for example), I can simply...

I have been on HubPages only for two months. I did not think that "Asking & Answering Questions" was a complicated matter. But I have come across a question that if you ask a question and then answer it with your own hub, it is "faking it". My understanding was...

What the heck is the point of Q&A? I don't mean that sarcastically. I am really trying to figure it out. I can't formulate a strategy for properly using this feature unless I can understand the intent behind it.First the Q&A questions/answers were on their own pages with their own urls. It...

Just had a big drop on my profile score. And all my hubs were featured along with a steady 10 Editors Choice. I say 'were' because 3 were just unfeatured and I don't know what to do about that. My views are over 945,000. Boo-hoo. Hubpages doesn't love me anymore!

Hi, I wonder why I am suddenly banned from answering questions. Is the ban permanent or temporary? I have written to the HubPages Team but I thought that I may be able to get a faster response here. Is there a guideline on how to answer questions? Honestly, I really don't know which rule I have...

Can you answer your own requests? When you make a request, it immediately brings you to a screen with the prominently featured red button that says "answer this request". It feels like abuse to make a request and answer it yourself, so I'm not doing it. But I feel like...
