Another Noob question re: traffic

   Hi there, I have 4 hubs now all created in last 5 days. The total traffic spread round them all is just 150 views with average hub score of 59. Can you please advise if over time, as the hubs get older will they start to build a bit of traffic and rise in google's results or will I just have to start a tedious backlink campaign? Is it common to experience lack of traffic in the beginning then a rise? I have had each hub indexed in no time and socially bookmarked on 2/3 sites. Keywords are not to competitive either. Please help me I want maximum exposure especially for my ebay guide which I put a heck of a lot of effort into.

   Give it time - they will rise, and they will also rise in the search engines without you having to backlink or do anything further so long as you have optimised each page for search engines.

      Izzy, I love reading this give it time stuff, and I still have hope, but it's a long time waiting.  IF I ever see this magic uplift I will write a celebratory feel good hub about it, offering to sell my secrets.  If I don't (see an uplift) I will just claim I did.

         I have noticed it takes about 2 months minimum on average for hubs to find their place in the search engines. Some go straight to page 1 but then they drop back and it takes another 2 months for them to climb again.
         I've been here long enough to see some of my very first hubs climb too, after a year or more of being nowhere.
         Take heart, it can still happen.

            Somewhere in these forums is a post from either Paul Edmondson or Paul Deeds that says on average a Hub will reach it's peak of traffic (or reach) in about three years.
            
            This is a game where the patient Hub author wins.

                  LOL, I like your style of writing Mark! I never know if you are serious or not, but if you really want to make money you need to write around high value topics, or write around high search, but low competition topics.
                  I mean, you could write about...I dunno...top of the range BMWs for example...no idea if they are highly searched or high paying but you'll get the idea...but just write your usual fun stuff and see what adverts your hub brings? Of course if your hub contains nothing useful to the searcher they might just exit via an advert.

                     Hi Izzy...thanks.  I am serious about wanting to make money, but not very good at putting that want into the right direction.  The idea of attracting traffic and waffling till they exit via an advert had occurred to me - I have the waffle and exit points in place, it's just the small matter of traffic.
                     
                     BMW's is a very good idea and I shall tuck that one away (I've written too much already this weekend)

               I've seen that, but that could be taken two ways. One is that the successful hub, that gets plenty views early on, will get a continuing rise in traffic which reaches a peak after 3 years, OR it could mean that some hubs never do much but after three years they will get some, and whatever they get at three years of age is the most they will ever get? This 3 years thing isn't very clear to me.

         After a month here, I was seeing 10 daily views from Google (.com, .ca, .uk combined).
         
         After 6 months, they were adding up to 50 per day. Now they are almost always 100 (well, not on a Saturday. 64 just now).
         
         This, of course, is just lazy me with no keyword research writing whatever the heck I feel like writing and hardly bothering with backlinking other than Twitter and Facebook.  Someone who works harder at it is bound to see even more.

               I'm not interested. I'm lazy. I have enough money, I don't want to change the words that I chose. I will do it sometimes, but my heart just isn't in it.
               
               It's all those things.  It's just not high on my list. I like to write. I like to write about what I want to write about and use the words that I want to use, 
               
               I have used the title tuner. Sometimes I will take its advice, sometimes I won't.
               
               Sometimes I will look at the titles competitive articles use. Usually I just shake my head and ignore all that.
               
               Shrug. It's just not my thing. If I don't enjoy something, no amount of money will get me to do it. Life is too short and money is absolutely the least important part of it.
               
               That could change if my other income sources dried up. But that is how it is now.

   I agree with Izzy, I am just starting to see one or two no hope hubs, starting to get views, started off with one a week and now one a day which is amazing cos for six months they did nothng! other hubs get views straight away and generate views every day but even these do increase in time, so a hub that has always done well will increase even further over time

   I'm finally getting some real traffic (for a variety of reasons, I suspect).  Looking at traffic sources, Google traffic may be kicking in, too.  When I joined, I read several threads that marked a turning point at a few months, and that's about where I am now.  In other words, I feel hopeful!

   My website was created in 2001 and yes I'll agree about waiting for traffic. Finding new subjects is an entire different matter though. I think there are a million sites about every topic.

   I'm fairly new, too.  I don't know much about SEO or how to use key words.  Traffic seems to be increasing steadily but not without participation with the community here.  As in really talk and don't just say cliche junk (unless the situation calls for it).  To do that, I suggest finding stuff you really like to read and talk about so it's effortless.
   
   Perhaps we can entice readers with punch and pie?
   
   I hope all your ebay auctions succeed and all your comments say A++++++++++ GREAT!11!!

   You only asked for a ding-bat bolt (whatever that is)! You'd think he'd be able to arrange to get you that - even if a beamer is probably out of the question until he has written about it and earned a fortune.

      Well, a ding-bat bolt may sound like a small thing to you, but good quality is quite difficult to attain since the America Ding Bat Bolt company folded after all the cheap foreign competitors flooded the market..
      
      I remember the ding bat bolts of my youth. My Dad had a wonderful set of gold plated ones his dad had given him - tragically lost to a bad second marriage, alas.
      
      A good Beamer is dead easy. All it takes is money, and Mark is L-O-A-D-E-D.

    I thought the two month thing had sorted out one of my hubs.  It's one i like so have kepy a close eye on it, it was at number 11 on google for weeks then on thursday i noticed a massive increase in traffic, so I checked and bosh, number 1 on google!!
    
    However, today the traffic has dropped, so I looked again and it's gone back down to number 7!  Rubbihs!  Oh well, it has a brief stint at the top at least.

       I've had that happen...but you know what? Another period of time will go by, and your will be #1 again, then it will drop a bit, then go back up.
       I had one hub in particular do that repeatedly, so I rewrote the whole thing. I turned it from a 500 word into a 2000 word hub, added relevant videos, photos...the works.
       
       Now its #1 and has been for months!
