Lol even the reporters there think Obama is clueless... besides being a liar! His budget actually increases the debt by more than 7 trillion dollars!!!
The he says we have to live within our means while dismissing every recomendation of his OWN deficit commission!

Now now now.   Give the man a chance. wink I'm sure it won't be long before his greatness the naked emperor will come up with an appropriate explanation for all this including one of his infamous re-definitions.  Like.....reminding us that we really have NO DEFICIT----we're just financially-challenged!  HAAA

"Washington (CNN) -- President Barack Obama called on congressional Republicans to engage in an "adult conversation" about the federal government's long-term financial health Tuesday, warning that serious debt reduction will remain impossible without bipartisan agreement on how best to stabilize Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid costs.

Leaders of both parties have to be willing to make unpopular concessions, he said, while declining to specify exactly what form those concessions should take.

"I expect that all sides will have to do a little bit of posturing on television and speak to their constituencies, and rally the troops and so forth," Obama told reporters at a hurriedly scheduled news conference. "But ultimately, what we need is a reasonable, responsible and initially, probably, somewhat quiet and toned-down conversation about ... where can we compromise and get something done."

I hope the republicans in Washington are more capable of an adult conversation than the dingbats on hubpages.

That doesn't even merit the respect of a response, Doug.

I swear you are incapable of seeing anything wrong with liberals! Obama created a commission on debt reduction they gave him recomendations on entitlements...which he ignored! He is supposed to LEAD on this not the republicans! If there is anyone not being adult about the budget... its Obama!!

Hey Lady love, as you said- Obama is to lead, however, what you failed to understand is that it still requires concessions. WOW! hmm

Well cags concessions are a given sooo where were Obama's concessions from the recommendations of his own debt committee? He rejected every one out of hand! His own committee!!!

I'm not rejecting the actions of what Obama has done with regards to his own party. I am talking about concessions are required by other sides, not just one. That's all.

Well you're right about that! The American people will have to make the biggest concessions like removing their mouths from the government's teats! Lol!

Cagsil - You win the prize for hitting the nail directly on the head and hard.

I make no bones about being liberal, but progress will require that both sides negotiate - and nobody is going to get everything they want. In fact, if they do a good job, everybody will be thoroughly pissed, including me.

In a nutshell (which is where Brenda and LaLo came from), taxes will go up and spending will be cut. Some programs will be strengthened and stabilized - others will be eliminated. In the end, the cash going out will equal the cash going in. At that point we can address the national debt.

The question is whether the folks in Washington can quit posturing long enough to do some damn hard work. Then we voters have to get over being pissed and re-elect those from both parties who were parties to making a deal and cut loose the crybabies who refused to participate.

I'm confused! One minute LL tells us that Obama is a liberal, the next he's a socialist.
Is he both at the same time or does he alternate, if the latter, is this random or timetabled?

All liberals are socialists...just some to a greater degree than others.

How about if the Republicans, whose one and only raison d'etre in the Congress is to slash the deficit -- per their "mandate" from the American people (all 25% of them who voted in 2010 lol), do what THEY said they were going to do?
Maybe they can bring a reasoned and acceptable set of COMPROMISES to Obama.
Newsflash: It took years to get the country into this debt.
We cannot expect to erase it in 2 years.
Meanwhile, Obama understands that as we reduce the deficit we also MUST invest in certain programs or risk both short- and long-term negative consequences.
The Republicans seem to think we should hack indiscriminately and then toss the carcass on a bonire. There can be no phoenix rising out of those ashes....

Very interesting when you look at the breakdown of our federal spending.
Frankly, anyone who is over 65 rants about government spending, they should voluntarily give up their Social Security and Medicare benefits.
That will leave a whole lot more for the rest of the country who are NOT on the government's "teat."

How about letting those younger than 25 opt out of the Social Security Ponzi scheme?

Let them put money into private retirement accounts?

Why shouldn't those older people be screaming?

Its not their fault politicians have used that money to pay for welfare programs for lazy people.
