Proposed GOP Bills. Do you detect a theme here?

   Wish I could say this is a David Letterman "top 10" list.
   Pick one, pick them all.
   It's not just the proposed cuts in funding, it's (in some cases) the rationale behind these bills that makes me wonder. Is this 2011 or 1951?
   
   Top 10 Shocking Attacks from the GOP War
   
   1) Republicans not only want to reduce women's access to abortion care, they're actually trying to redefine rape. After a major backlash, they promised to stop. But they haven't.
   
   2) A state legislator in Georgia wants to change the legal term for victims of rape, stalking, and domestic violence to "accuser." But victims of other less gendered crimes, like burglary, would remain "victims."
   
   3) In South Dakota, Republicans proposed a bill that could make it legal to murder a doctor who provides abortion care. (Yep, for real.)
   
   4) Republicans want to cut nearly a billion dollars of food and other aid to low-income pregnant women, mothers, babies, and kids.
   
   5) In Congress, Republicans have proposed a bill that would let hospitals allow a woman to die rather than perform an abortion necessary to save her life.
   
   
   6) Maryland Republicans ended all county money for a low-income kids' preschool program. Why? No need, they said. Women should really be home with the kids, not out working.
   
   
   7) And at the federal level, Republicans want to cut that same program, Head Start, by $1 billion. That means over 200,000 kids could lose their spots in preschool.
   
   8) Two-thirds of the elderly poor are women, and Republicans are taking aim at them too. A spending bill would cut funding for employment services, meals, and housing for senior citizens.
   
   9) Congress voted yesterday on a Republican amendment to cut all federal funding from Planned Parenthood health centers, one of the most trusted providers of basic health care and family planning in our country.
   
   
   10) And if that wasn't enough, Republicans are pushing to eliminate all funds for the only federal family planning program. (For humans. But Republican Dan Burton has a bill to provide contraception for wild horses. You can't make this stuff up).

            I am for women's rights. But a person should not be considered a victim unless and until the rapist is found guilty. You hear of a lot of women who cry rape and then it is shown that they lied. Were they victims?

               Were they victims? Sure, victims to their own selfish thinking. Which, they rationalized a reason for screaming "rape", even though there was none.
               
               There is something seriously wrong, if a woman screams "rape" and come to find out there is no "rape" that occurred. What caused this person to scream "rape" in the first place?
               
               Changing the word "victim" to "accuser" defeats any understanding that more often than not, the person is actually a victim, because of evidence already found.

                     As clarification, I oppose most Republican policies because they favor the rich, but I think that the the rape laws take away men's rights as now written.

      This is typical political rhetoric to keep us common folk away from the 800 lb Gorilla.  The democrats and republicans know it.  Throw some incendiary issues out there so the rest of the electorate can waste their time fretting over it while the real issues are deferred.
      Congress has neither the will or morality to deal with the biggest issues such as Social Security, Medicare or Defense.  These are the single most issues that will sink us.  Add the absolute ignoring of the Wall Street debacle and the inside ties to it and the recipe is going to show itself when the meal is done.
      A couple million or billion here or there makes no difference to a couple trillion here or there.

      Hey Mighty Mom,
      
      It appears as if, maybe it is you, a prime example- not seeing the distortion for what it really is? No offense intended.
      
      This is a prime example of them using fear on a woman. They know there are very few sources to get information, they have access to them and most other people do not, so it is easy for them to take steps that enforces a specific fear, while they(government) continues business as usual.
      
      The rights issues in America are getting out of hand, because of so much distortion and misinformation, by those of business or those of religion or those of politics(when all three are together, on the same side, they are the majority).
      
      It has become clear to me, evermore so now, that the average individual lack understanding of their own rights. And, if they don't smarten up, then they are going to lose the rights that they do not understand.

         Not just women, LMC.
         
         It's also an attack on the poor.
         
         It's an attack on worker's rights.
         
         It's an attack on equal opportunity by cutting funding for early childhood education, Headstart and pre-school.
         
         It's going to take the form of an attack on the elderly - GOP ideas for 'reforming' Social Security and Medicare are built on qualifying people later (like 70 years old) or cutting services offered to Seniors.

   Take it from me, a woman....it is a war on women....the free kind. The kind who like to have sex (OH NO!!) and make money and not be married with children. Or, who just don't believe like you do.
   
   Something that always pops up when Repubs are in charge. I personally feel like a steel claw is gripping around my neck until they leave power.

   87% of counties in the USA have no services for abortion.
   
   They have been terrorized out of existance.
   
   This is not an issue??
   
   Maybe not for you, but it is a life and death issue for half the population of America.
   
   And will be a nightmare if the rightys get their way.
   
   No abortion, and no social programs to help these moms and babies.
   
   ....which is already becoming a reality.
   
   I have to ask...is this for the black market baby business?
   Children for sex-slaves? Drug-runners? Or maybe Satanic rituals?
   
   What do you want these fetuses for?
   
   Cause if you were pro-life, you would never have voted for Bush, after he killed innocent babies in Iraq. You just wouldn't.

   Oh yes, I'm clued into the whole "bait and switch" phenomenon.
   Anything to distract from the primary issue.
   Remember when gay marriage took center stage?
   (I am in favor of the right of everyone to marry whomever they choose). But really, THAT was the #1 NATIONAL issue of the time? Heck no. It was a distraction. A MORALLY POLARIZING issue.
   
   In this case the #1 issue is jobs.
   The right got their tax cut extensions.
   Where are the jobs?
   Oh no -- let's attack our most vulnerable citizens instead of putting Americans back to work.
   We see the pattern.
   Can we stop it?

      You need to ask BO where the jobs are.  He promised and promised and all he has done is spend with little result.  Just because the Republicans won the House doesn't mean they can change much unless they have 'bipartisan' support from the Dems in the Senate and the president. 
      Oh, I forgot, only the Repubs are supposed to be bipartisan when the Dems want something.  It's okay for the Dems to be partisan because they are always right.  Sorry.
