I just published my first hub. I don't have my Adsense approval yet but did put some Amazon books on there. Right now I am more concerned with the format and the keywords thing. I can see I have a lot to learn and so far, I don't really get it.

Anyway, if there is anyone who would look it over I would appreciate any advice or suggestions about the writing, the content, the format, or anything else that might help me.

Thanks in advance for your input!

    Welcome to Hubpages! smile

You seem to have a pretty good hub. The picture in the middle, could probably go along side your second text capsule.

However, you could also take part of your second text capsule, and make another text capsule of shorter text, which you could then place along side your picture.

This will help with adsense ad placement, for when you do get approved.

So, your format would look like this-

Text capsule - (along side is Google's main ad space)
Text capsule(with a portion of text from your present second capsule) - Photo capsule
Text capsule(with the remainder of text left from before)

As for the keywords- the best I can say is to use 9-15 keywords/tags for articles up 1500 words. You can use up to 40 for articles over 1500 words. You can use one word descriptions or phrases.

You already have OCD spelled out, but didn't put OCD as a keyword of it's own. You could use other related words that are either in your text already or relevant terms people will put into a search engine to find what you've written about.

    I hope that helps.

Thank you Cagsil! I still have to learn how to make the capsules go to the right or left. And I am still figuring out the keywords thing too.

Google Adsense denied me because of Domain ownership. I know it's because I put hubpages.com as my URL.

I saw somewhere what I should have put but I can't find it again. So much information! Can you tell me what my URL is?

The URL you use to setup your account with Google is your profile URL. wink

Look at each capsule. Each has little arrows, that make the capsule do things. I would suggest experimenting with them, to get a feel. The arrow " ----> " on each capsule with force the capsule to the right side, if needed. It can be done with all capsules. smile

Oh, and one more question! How do I respond to someone's comments on my hub? Do I just add a comment or do I reply some other way? I don't want to get in trouble for commenting on my own hub or something.

Sorry to be asking questions that I'm sure have answers in the learning section, but there is just so much information! I know it will take time, but I just want to get off on the right foot.

You cannot get in to trouble commenting on your own hub. If you are addressing more than one person, then use "@" and the username and put your response. If you are simply replying to a single comment, then I have always found it easier, if I address the people by using the name they used to leave the comment.
The Learning Center has great stuff to teach you about Hubpages. It's recommended viewing/reading material.

I've no problem helping and most questions, if I cannot answer, then I am sure someone else within the community can. wink

Ok, I can already see this is going to be a problem. Why am I still here? I was going to bed, but....

Anyway, I moved some of the capsules around and added some more advertising from amazon. Hope I didn't over-do the ads. Take a look if you get a chance....Thank you!

Oh btw- the forums can be addicting? My bad. Should have said something earlier. lol
My only suggestion is to take the time to expand your thinking on keywords/tags. You have good content that many people can relate to. Don't only look at your hub from your point of view, stop and look at it, from the reader's perspective. They are going to come to your hub "WHY?" and "How" will they get there?

Why? think in search terms(be the reader looking for your information).

How they get to your hub? (search engine traffic is what you want) People arrive on your hub via search engines or links in other locations. If you post links to your hubs in other locations, without spamming and people follow the link, it is traffic. I use Twitter and Facebook for advertising sources for my hubs. I have approximately 79% of my traffic comes from search engines.

Promotion is a key part, but something that doesn't need apply right away, because getting the fundamentals of using Hubpages would be best first and foremost. wink

I enjoyed reading it. You could add an extra picture or two. If you wanted to add something about links to closet organisers etc

Or links to any article relating to OCD.. or how to cure.. etc,

But I liked it. Im not great on key words, thats something that I have to work on myself.

Yet congratulations. Good writing and I laughed.

Great hub, it was really informative. It is quite long but formatting and layout is good. The links to relevant help sources will be useful for anyone else in your position

Thank you for taking the time to read it. I intend to add a couple of pics to hold the interest more. Do you think I should shorten or leave anything out?
