My graduating high school class' cheer was:
Don't playa hate, congratulate, cuz oh-fo' gonna regulate!
No joke.
I think we should make that the new HubPages mantra, what do you think? Substituting "HP" for "04" of course.
Being a Brit the last bit was lost on me. Cuz oh-fo' gonna regulate?
Yeah, I did not understand that either. Does that mean problems will be regulated through hardship?
You from the Island too? Some stuff gets lost on me but then again I know I could fox an American with some tyke talk. Horses for courses huh?
oh-fo' being how we pronounced "oh-four." (2004 being the year of our graduating class. Yes, I'm a baby.)
Regulating... well... it's street slang for pwning, basically.
Ohhhhkayyyy thanks Now ... what is pwning?
I feel really old. It's not a Brit thing is it, it's age?
Heh. Pwning is internet slang for regulating.
Just kidding. Pwning comes from "owning," meaning to show someone up, to kick their butt at something. (Exactly, Rochelle, it's a purposeful misspelling.)
lol thanks for that, else ah wa' gunna 'ave munk on an all
Count on me for all your slang translation needs. I'm bilingual... I speak both British and American English. Benefit of living in the UK for a year. Actually, I speak some Canadian too, courtesy of my mum.
Really? Where did you live? You stay in one spot or knock about a bit? I say that because we're kinda concise over here. Compact. I can spit from where I live and hit a southerner
Edit: not that I spit mind
Lived in Oxford, went to middle school there. My dad was teaching at Nuffield on sabbatical. We did do some traveling: York, Bath Spa, London (of course), took holidays in Cornwall and the Isle of Wight. And naturally we popped over to the continent a few times as well.
People also say owning. I think pwning may have derived from the word pawn. Meaning you are going to own pawns? I am not to sure though.
People always say pwning, owning and stuff on online games.
"Don't playa hate, congratulate."I am glad to hear that quote your goddess.
Don't playa hate, congratulate, cuz 'HP' gonna regulate!
Very mystical I think I like it.
York and the Isle of Wight? I bet we shared space in a queue or two Bath is one of my favorite spots for sure, York up there with it. I'm near York, be a place I'd live if it were just down to me.
I can see you wandering the Shambles right now

Utopianism is the real crux of the problem: the insistence of attempting to establish that which can never exist. We are a society which is driven by hope. We are fed hope by every commercial, billboard and salesperson! We live for hope, thinking there is a magic fix for every ill. Government can...

I joined Dec 5, 2010 and I just finished my 30th hub. I do feel I am getting burned out though. All of my dreams are about hubs. Does anyone else get burned out when writing a lot of hubs?

Does the Government need to start regulating and monitoring new Churches that behave like Cults? In the news recently, two brothers were savagely beaten and one died due to his injuries in an upstate NY church. They were beaten so they would confess their sins.It was not one of the recognized...
