HubPages Walk in Love. No Room for Hate.

My graduating high school class' cheer was:

Don't playa hate, congratulate, cuz oh-fo' gonna regulate!

      No joke.

I think we should make that the new HubPages mantra, what do you think?  Substituting "HP" for "04" of course.

Yeah, I did not understand that either. Does that mean problems will be regulated through hardship?

oh-fo' being how we pronounced "oh-four." (2004 being the year of our graduating class.  Yes, I'm a baby.)

Regulating... well... it's street slang for pwning, basically.

I feel really old. It's not a Brit thing is it, it's age? sad

Heh.  Pwning is internet slang for regulating. wink

Just kidding.  Pwning comes from "owning," meaning to show someone up, to kick their butt at something.  (Exactly, Rochelle, it's a purposeful misspelling.)

Count on me for all your slang translation needs.  I'm bilingual... I speak both British and American English.  Benefit of living in the UK for a year.  wink  Actually, I speak some Canadian too, courtesy of my mum.

Really? Where did you live? You stay in one spot or knock about a bit? I say that because we're kinda concise over here. Compact. I can spit from where I live and hit a southerner smile

Edit: not that I spit mind wink

People also say owning. I think pwning may have derived from the word pawn. Meaning you are going to own pawns? I am not to sure though.

People always say pwning, owning and stuff on online games.

York and the Isle of Wight? I bet we shared space in a queue or two smile Bath is one of my favorite spots for sure, York up there with it. I'm near York, be a place I'd live if it were just down to me.

I can see you wandering the Shambles right now smile
