Do you believe Criss Angel has extra-normal powers or not?
He's an illusionist. He jumped from a moving car and injured himself stopping film production for 3 weeks.
You and I might be able to meet in the middle on this one Beelzedad :)Still one might ask, if its all stage magic and charisma, why is no one else at his celebrity level? That would include Blaine, Copperfield, etc.
O.K. Beel, would you be so kind as to explain the 'Appeal to Popularity fallacy'?
That's where the argument is used where something is very popular, hence it must be valid. In other words, don't fall prey to believing something is true just because it's popular.
Good explanation Beel.Learned something. So the moneys just behind him for pure ability and acting skills. Still....No answer bats a thousand.
At one time Blaine was at that popularity level. I think Copperfield at his peak was more popular than Angel. The problem is you have to keep doing interesting things to stay popular. Blaine got a lot of interest for his buried alive stunt and the frozen in the ice cube stunt, but after that he got boring. Standing on a pole and sitting in a plexiglass box on top of a pole for long periods of time just isn't that exciting. What are they supposed to show on TV, Blaine wiping his nose? Criss Angel has his Vegas gig and a whole team of people helping him develop fresh illusions. He does not have special powers.
Good answers DB and your probably correct that there's nothing extra-normal about him. One just takes for granted with his outdoor magic and incredulous crowds that at least some of the stuff could be genuine.I remember the first or one of the first of his Mind Freak episodes where the camera guys were following him though a casino and kept bugging him about predicting a roulette wheel number;he told em he shouldn't use his powers for that but gave in and told em ok but no more than a 100$: of course the no. came up; guess the wheel was just rigged.
he used plexiglass in a swimming pool when he walked across a pool in, i think it was vegas. The people in the pool were paid staff for the event. All magicians throughout time have been illusionists. Houdini spent much of his time disproving spirit mediums.
Hes a very good illusionist and i give him credit for that
Heard about that one too hanging out: whats the explaination for his bulldozer stunt or levitating between the buildings?
the bulldozer stunt was thick soft foam under the mat that had the glass on it. When the dozer ran over him, he sunk into the foam. They dug a hole previously, inserted the foam, layed the mat down and then the glass.
the levitation between buildings (of which i only saw one incident) was done through photography. It seems the light was different and the shadows were wrong. I don't know if this was done in front of public or not but he has a lot of paid staff to rally around his work.
The levitation he did standing on the ground he used a chair, a false set of pants with a shoe attached and he would slip his foot out of the shoe, the pants had a slit in them for his leg to pop out and he lifted himself up with one leg (nice toning lol) and appear to levitate. back turned to the audience of course. Both shoes were clearly seen as though his foot had not been removed.
Thanx for the explanation's hanging out. Would you consider him though the modern Houdini? He seems to go after performers who claim contact with the deceased...just like H. did and does the escape artist stunts too.
of course he has magical powers.. he has a Greek background.. we all have such powers
The only Greek girl I've known personally was a witch...very witchy at times and possessed powers to sexually frustrate men.

Are the TV shows of street magicians like David Blaine and Chris Angel staged?Of course I know that many magic tricks rely on some preparation, or someone in the audience, or a trick apparatus. What I am asking is whether they took advantage of the "magic" of television to perform...

Ace Frehley! Thoughts?I am interested in KISS. The controversy surrounding their induction into the rock and Roll Hall of Fame seems to indicate bad blood between the four former band-mates. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons have been opening critical of Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. ...
