that graph is pretty, but what does it mean? HP has less "organic" traffic? or something worse...

I think it means traffic has dropped... and stayed dropped.

The drop in rank from 49 to 60 implies that HP has dropped while other sites have gained.

As for disaster - if I were thinking of floating HP and walking away with a fortune - that prospective fortune may have shrunk somewhat.

That prospective fortune doesn't exist, Mark. Of course, you can have it, but only if you spend a fortune yourself.

I'm guessing at Facebook valuation - Russians said 70 billion or something this week - that HP must be worth something.

tbh all I'm saying is.. traffic still looks like its down.. nudge, nudge.

Associated content went for $100million whilst a top 50 website. I bet it is worth considerably less than that now.

HP's devaluation by google is nothing in comparison to squidoo slap.

But Squidoo seems to have stayed fairly level through the algo change.

Which has nothing to do with me starting to write over there of course...

Ah thanks Ryan.  A year ago.  Right.  I wasn't really planning to go into historical figures on this hub.  Did something once happen to Compuserve as well?

I really think the Squidoo slap happened before and that's why people haven't seen such a big drop there.

I've written a lens since the big slapdown and it seems just as difficult to rank over there, but the truth is it can be done there just as it can be done here.

The key is quality content, constant updating, and a little sugar wink
