    Hello

I am a new hubber and have signed up with my name (Toni Farrington)- just wondering if I would have been better off creating an account with a business name rather than a person?

Or perhaps it makes no difference at all?

Would appreciate advice from more experienced hubbers on this before I start hubbing away.

    Many thanks

    Toni smile

I am recognizable by this name and one other (which I would prefer not to use here). Everyday Miracles is the name of my blog and is my user name on the marriage, pregnancy and parenting forums. I plan on changing my username in most other venues to reflect the "sameness" but this is a newer UN than most of my registrations smile

I'm not sure if there's a difference of potential traffic or revenue in regards to your user name being your personal name or business. It would be interesting to know though. I don't think it would have a difference.

Its essentially an issue of brand development..are you only writing about stuff relevant to your business ? Then use your business name

Do you want to separate your business activities from your writing
then dont use your business name

Eventually, your profile name if its is unique will rank well in search engines - so if your talking to someone and you want to direct them to your hubs..you could say just google "tony farrington" ..if they already know you thats a good thing...if they do not it may be a mouthful to remember so you might want to develop something that is shorter.

If you are marketing a topic, its not a bad idea to create a profile name that is your target keyword

just as a test google the random hubbers in this thread by username see who ranks well..and then question if the name is memorable and then decide ..is your full name  best for privacy purposes anyway ?

Hi Toni - I am also still kind of new, and I had the same question.  I initially signed up with another user name.   Then I came up with MotherHubber, because I thought it was catchy, because I like to write about parenting.

Just be advised that you have to create a new user account should you decide to change your UN.  (I was bummed about this, because I had already written a few hubs under the first name)

    All best,

    MotherHubber

I wanted my name to be close to the name I usually write under, but not exactly the same.  It's my version of "variety".  I'm not imaginative enough to come up with a good user name.   smile  I thought the last initials were cryptic enough.    smile

I have used my author name I have published my books under as I'm trying to create a brand.

You should have setup an account which reflects your personality, writing style, or general topics you are likely to write about. Of course it is up to you, if you are writing about your life story it would make some sense to use your name

I think your user name is perfectly fine.  My name is Louida and first letter in my last name is M so I am pretty much using my own name as well.

I think that your username is up to you! It won't effect your traffic if you write great hubs smile My name is Cole and my family calls me Colebaby so hence my username!
