Which famous author are you?

   Sorry, not a quiz or a test (although those can be fun!).
   Just a query.
   Which famous author would you most like to be yourself?
   Or which famous author is most like you (in their writing and/or in their personal life)?
   
   I would be Jane Austen because:
   1. She writes about smart, strong women
   2. She is a master of zingers that sound refined (nobody does back-handed put-downs like Austen)
   3. I am a closet romantic

      I would like to be considered a lot like Francis Burnett Hodge.  I believe she is the author of 'The Secret Garden'? I also admire the one who wrote the 'Anne of Greene Gables' series.  As much as I hate to admit it, I don't know the authors name.  I am a romantic at heart, who loves a bit of mystery on the side. : )

            Thanks Uninvited Writer for clarifying the author of  the Anne series. : ) I have to wonder now if I got Francis last name right?  Was it Hodge Burnett or as I had it? lol!  I forget now. Go figure.

   Home Girl -- The Bronte sisters are up there on my list as well.
   Did you know they are coming out with a new version of Jane Eyre soon? I saw the poster in the lobby last time I went to the movies. Can't hardly wait! Great love story.
   
   Walt Smith -- interesting take. I like the famous last words idea. Although Truman Capote was famous for his rather outrageous and totally self-centered quotes, wasn't he???

   In my fiction, which I don't publish here, I try to emulate Clive Cussler and his knack for introducing "what if" situations with revised history.
   
   In my screenplays, I like Peter Farrelly (writer of Something About Mary) for comedy and for suspense I like M. Night Shyamalan, and Christopher McQuarrie (writer of The Usual Suspects)

   I like to think I'm a cross between Harold Robbins and Jackie Collins with bits and pieces of other authors I like mixed in. But when I read my work, I find it's none of these ... then who?

   livewithrichard -- That's quite a crew you've got inside your head!"The Usual Suspects" is one of my all-time favorites. Just saw "The Sixth Sense" again for about the 10th time. Both still stand the "suspense test" even though I now know the ending!
   
   camlo -- Your situation seems normal to me. Just because we appreciate a writer's work doesn't mean we copy them. We take the "bits and pieces" of style from many sources and make it our own. The Jackie Collins part is intriguing, tho

          Well I have been looking at a lot of different famous people so I have this tendency to follow many, Maya Angelou was one of my favorites, but also have been looking at Hemingway alot.  I spend a lot of time studying different public figures like MLK, Boby Marley, so many authors of revolutionist stands on changing the world, even if they are just lyrics, there words are like poetry, or their speeches, they all tell their thoughts, and their stories, also what they believed in. There are so many so I like to learn from them all.

    lol hmm I have so many writing heros but most of them are fantasy.  They were escapists in a sense and philosophers.  It would be nice if one day I am listed in their number but chances are I will find myself in a category all of my own. Sad
