Hello, I am just curious, what if somebody likes my hub, copies it and puts it on their website?
Will my hub get nailed as a duplicate?
No. Assuming your hub was published first, you'll see a copyright symbol next to the hub title in your dashboard to let you know that someone copied it.
Ok, will my hubscore go up if I go after the people who copied it? Or does it not really matter?
Also in the Copied Hub section on your My Account page you can find the File DMCA sample form. Open and copy this. You will need to add your information to it and then e-mail it to the person involved and their website. You can also send to Adsense if they use it for Ads.
Did they at least give you credit and link back to your article?
If not, then ask them to remove it. If they do not listen, then file a DMCA complaint and force them to remove it.
If that doesn't work(which usually it does), then file a DMCA with the ISP who hosts their network.
At least, I think that is how it is handled. I've so far(knock on wood) not had my stuff copied.
I don't really mind them copying it, I just don't want it to effect my hubscore. . . so if it doesn't in anyway shape of form, thats fine with me
You didn't answer my first question.
If they didn't give you credit and link back to your article, then they shouldn't benefit from the article at all.
If they have linked back to your original content, then it benefits you and could bring you more readers, not only for your article but for others.
It's bad only if they get more credit then you did using your content.
Best is to make sure your continually working on many more pages of content.
I thought that HP changed the rules and any article that is present on any other site, like Ezine, will show up as a duplicate regardless of whether or not it was first published on hubpages. Has this changed?
I must say that I find it very discouraging when it appears that some people cannot create their own work, but rely on "borrowing" from others.
I write about photography using my 24 years of experience.
Some of my hubs deal with photo topics which are not often covered such as silhouette photography, street photography and candid photography to give three examples. I've been noticing lately that when I publish, within hours there are two or three articles which bear remarkable likeness to mine, especially in their titles.
Example: Google silhouette photography hubs and notice the results. All from the same day. Some of these look like a a conglomeration of more of my hubs mixed in together.
To say the least, it's disappointing.

If you have noticed your traffic decreasing lately on some of your hubs, this Facebook page is copying content from several hubbers and publishing it on their FB page. The Facebook page is called OHealth atwww .facebook .com /pages ...

So on May 12th, I published my article "Why is my dog smacking his lips?". It comes back to me today with a notice from hubpages saying it is duplicate content. This upsets me because I have been a writer for more than 5 years and I hate, hate, hate copied content to start with and...

I'm very grateful to Hubpages for putting the little red C on our dashboards to warn us when our content has been copied. It didn't take me too long to hunt down the content thieves on a couple hubs and send out DMCA notices. The offending copies were on blogspot, so I assume Google will zap them...

I notice that on the "copied Hubs" page, there's a column for "removed". I've never seen any Hub with an entry in that "removed" column and there seems to be no way to mark a copy as "removed". Is there meant to be?It would be an awesome...

I discovered a little red "c" with circle around it and had no idea what that meant so I clicked on that hub. It told me that my hub was apparently copied. When I clicked on the web address provided...SURE ENOUGH! This person "lovehihi" has totally STOLEN my...
