So I started a blogger blog today to track the progress of my self-publishing adventure (disaster?) and my friends are telling me that they can't follow/subscribe.
I looked on my screen and it shows a follow button, but when I looked on my wife's it doesn't show one. I figured out how to put an RSS to my Facebook page when I searched for the answer, but I still don't know what to tell my wife and a few others.
Do they have to make Blogger accounts to subscribe? Is that the only way, or am I (and a bunch of us) missing something obvious?
OH, and how do I move the Adsense ad from the prominent position at the top, down to the right side, under my profile?
Go into Design view, and you should be able to drag and drop elements on your blog to where you want them.
BTW, the 'right side' is called a 'sidebar.'
There are tons of free Blogger templates out there. You're not stuck with what Blogger offers. Just Google them. If you find one you like, we can help you get it up and running in short order.
You need to edit the "gadget" and give it your feed URL. If you aren't sure what it is, just go to FeedBurner to create a new feed.
Uh... what?
lol
WTF is Feedburner? And what "gadget?"
Pretend I don't know anything. lol.
I just went and did all the stuff they say to do at Feedburner. Just need to figure out the "gadget" part I think now.
Hey Shades,
When you are on the "design" section, you will see an edit button for each location can put a gadget in place.
Click on edit and look through the options available. If you are wanting to move adsense to a location under your profile, then look for where your profile is located within your design of your blog. It should have a empty box that says "add a gadget". When you click on it, go through the options. Adsense should be under the settings that pops up in front of you.
If you want to rid yourself of the adsense block at the top, then go into the edit of that spot and then click on remove.
I hope that helps.
It did. TOok me a long time, had to sleep on it and come back. But I think I have it now. Thanks Cags, and thanks Irohner.
And I would also like to thank whatever jerkface a-hole it was that took the time to design a virus-laden landing page under the name of "Blogger Layout Help" or some such that pops up on page one of Google and fires up one of those never-ending window opener things that cost me an hour trying to do this too. How big of a douchebag do you have to be to do that? I mean, WTF is the payoff for that crap if you don't even get to watch the person whose evening you boofed rant anyway? So why bother?
You're welcome Shades. Glad I could help.
Sorry to hear about the virus thingy, but hopefully you have a good Virus Protection in place.
Yeah, it's all good. The problem was, I had a series of windows open with various tutorials and step-by-steps going, and I lost them all and couldn't figure out how I'd found them originally given how long I spent. But, oh well. The upside is, I've got it all set up thanks to you, Irohner, and several hours reading and messing around. Even figured out how to get a Facebook feed to my page on it. So, it's pretty cool. I'm feeling very technological now.
Thanks again.

So my suggestion to hubpages is that maybe you might like to look at alternate like say Ad Brite for the people who like me who are in the same position. I have 140 hubs up and I can see that I am still having the odd advertisement inserted onto my pages for which I will not receive payment; maybe...

So it seems I have a predicament. I don't have an Adsense account as over at IB they manage it for me, and I don't need one. I do however need one here...I thought if I just went with enabling the hub pages ad program I could disable the adsense and it would be cool, but now I see I still have to...

I have to issue a grovelling apology here, I stuffed up mightily. I posted an explanation of how to claim authorship with Google, and made one small but extremely important mistake. For those who followed the original advice, my sincere apologies. You need to edit your profile and...
