Moving blogs. What am I doing wrong? (fairly urgent)

   I want to move my blog family allpurposeguru.com from Blogger to WordPress. I understand that I have to do some work on WordPress to prepare for the move, but I'm having trouble getting started. I already have one domain (ecofriendlyhomeproducts.com) on WordPress, hosted by HostGator. Here's what I did today:
   
   1. I parked the domain (hosted by eNom) on HostGator.
   2. Using Fantastico, I performed a new install. (That took some fumbling and deleting a whole bunch of duplicate WordPress files.)
   3. I used the same user name and password as for the original WordPress domain (ecofhp--yep, I bought that one, too, and redirected it to save typing). -- that might be a mistake, which I hope I can easily correct if that's the case.
   4. I tried to save the login location. Here are the results:

   1. I get to a page on Blogger saying that the page on allpurposeguru.com I'm looking for does not exist.
   2. Now I get that same page when I try to log on to ecofhp!
   3. Therefore, as things stand right now, I can't edit anything at all on WordPress!

      Not sure if this is it, but did you "point" your domain name server to your new host?

   When I typed in allpurposeguru.blogspot.com, it worked. Try that.
   
   As for the rest, well I'm on hostgator but have never parked a domain. Once I register a domain and redirect the nameservers to Hostgator, I simply install wordpress using the quick install option. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours for a new domain to populate so you may have to wait.
   
   I'm a little confused as to why you parked the new domain - if that's where your content is going to go, you can simply do a transfer of name servers from the old site.
   
   A bit more info and we may be able to help.

   The reason I parked it at HostGator is quite frankly that I don't know what I'm doing. Here's a question similar to mine that I found on the WordPress forum, along with the first reply. I find nothing later in the thread or at HostGator that explains just how to follow the suggestion, so I guessed.
   
   To clarlify as much as I can, I believe I need to do something within Word Press (and I have read a couple of things that say just what) before I can import from Blogger and point the domain to the new host. A complicating factor: I have five subdomains. I hope that once I figure out how to be able to work on the domain in WordPress, it will be fairly obvious how to set up the subdomains.

   I've been searching for hours and can't find any answers to this.
   
   I currently have a custom-domain name with blogger (purchased through google & Enom). The site is http://www.mysavingcents.com
   
   I would like to transition to a WordPress hosted site. I understand I will pay a monthly hosting fee through godaddy or bluehost.
   
   Now i assume i can't purchase the domain name with another host since obviously it's already in use by me. So i assume i will transfer my domain name from enom to godaddy. But will this give me downtime during the transition? I just don't want my site to be all messed up during the transition.

   In your case, I would set up the WordPress installation first in bluehost or godaddy then set up the WordPress site using IP address. After your site is set up just as you want it, you can point the domain name to your new DNS at bluehost or godaddy.

   Problem solved. The whole trouble began because the message box on the HostGator cpanel didn't work, and the "contact us" link went only to the broken message box. I finally did what I should have done in the first place and googled hostgator support. I just got through with a chat with a technician, and he was every bit as good as the cpanel help was dreadful. That is, he solved both my initial problem and the one I created in about an hour.

      Hey, I'm glad you solved the problem. I really wanted to help you, but honest to goodness I forgot how I did it. You see, I signed up with another host besides Gator and had no problem moving a Blogger blog to Wordpress. It was fairly large blog too. I was amazed at how easy it was once I understood the process.
      
      But later, when I moved to Gator, well, moving that Wordpress blog to Gator was another thing entirely. Very nerve wracking. I studied and studied and studied and tested and tested. Finally, when I had gone as far as I could, a few minutes with support...and poofs!!! The site moved intact with a little help from moi with no problems. That's why I sell Gator hosting, bekez it works for me!!
