What Happened to the Traffic Since Friday, March 25, 2011 ...

I know there's been endless threads on the Panda Algorithm update and how it has impacted traffic, but I'm curious to see if anyone has had any drastic changes in their traffic patterns since this past Friday.

I know weekend traffic is often slower, but my weekend traffic has always been consistent until this past Friday.  A Hub that I was ranking well for (before the algorithm change and after) has slipped considerably in ranking.  As you'd expect, traffic is down, too (going from 400 - 600 views a day to between 150 - 200 views).  Monday morning has brought more of the same.  Overall, my HubPages traffic yesterday was the lowest it's been since February 23, 2011.

I also have an offsite blog that completely disappeared in ranking that was getting regular traffic off of a number of different keyword phrases.

All pages are still indexed in Google and no page updates have been made.  In doing some limited searching, I did read an offsite post where someone else experienced the same issue.

I looked at mine and yes, there is a decrease in traffic. I think that they are still applying some changes in the algorithm. I am not sure though.

Thank you, PrettyDarkHorse!  The fun never ends trying to stay on top of the latest trends and what we should or shouldn't be doing.

The PA is slowly being rolled out elsewhere. They only released it in the US to start with. There are signs that some tweaks may have gone on with the original US release, and that it may now be on it's way around the world.

Hang fire, eventually things will settle down smile

Thank you as well, FrogDropping!  I've enjoyed the first few months I've had on HubPages and I'm now more of a believer than I was before in regards to online income earning possibilities.

Even though it makes things challenging and exciting, it seems a little daunting doing this for a full-time business.  Let me say that I certainly don't have the knowledge, experience, or the earnings to do so (nor am I looking to drop everything to do so), but these changes seem to have the ability to trash 100's of hours worth of work for those who do.

The scary part is that there doesn't seem to be any quick fixes for those who depend upon an online check for their livelihood.  Having two small businesses, I'm comfortable with the risks involved and constant change, but many of these online issues are completely out of our control, change with almost no notice, and seem to have the ability to drastically slash your earnings in a snap.

Thank you again and cheers to more knowledge which always helps in getting us from point A to point B with a few less bumps!

Every single weekend, in every single month, in every single year, traffic falls.

You are asking what has happened to traffic since Friday. It is now Monday. I can tell you what happened, the weekend happened.

See those regular dips? They are weekends. When people are more interested in getting drunk or spending time with their family. They surf the net in their employers time.

Hi Ryan - I definitely understand and don't dispute what you're saying for a second as anyone remotely paying attention knows this.

However, as PrettyDarkHorse has experienced, my normal weekend traffic pattern disappeared this weekend (comparing this weekend with past weekends where I had less Hubs, blog posts, etc.).

For this reason, I highlighted my concern.

As I noted in my original posting, one of my offsite blogs has stopped receiving search engine traffic altogether since last Friday (yes, it still is indexed) and, to this point on Monday, my traffic is not going to be anywhere near a typical Monday.  In fact, it will struggle to meet weekend numbers at this pace.

These facts reiterate to me that something else is going on.

I looked at my averages for the last two months for wekeends and this weekend is just too low. I am just inclined to think that they applied some changes again. Maybe it is just me.

Traffic to my sites also fell this weekend a fair bit, probably a web-wide slow weekend.

Probably because it is tax season in the UK and US.

Same with me. Was getting 50-100 views a day, then 0 on both days of weekend...

Lovely isn't it!  I'm sorry to hear that Moorebored.  Looks like a few of us can sulk momentarily before we get back to the business of figuring out how to make the necessary adjustments!

For the past 5 days my page views have been showing around 40% of the normal.  There is drastic decline.  After the decline following the first algorithm change, it had come back to normal.  Again gone down.

I only started noticing a dip in traffic at weekend since the algo change, and a couple of weekends have been worse than others and that includes this weekend.
I don't think the roll-out is happening yet. My google.co.uk and google.ca traffic is higher than before the change and getting higher if anything each week.

I think there's a glitch in the stats. I very rare look at the Stats on my profile page, but did after reading the OP. He's right. It appears that traffic TANKED on March 25th. It didn't seem right to me, so I went back into Analytics and there was no tanking of anything. The graphs don't even look reflective of the same profile.

I definitely think it's an HP glitch, and I certainly hope our HP Ad impressions aren't based on those same numbers. smile

Edited to add: NEVER MIND! I was looking at the wrong Analytics profile! smile They were different profiles!!!

UK Panda has definitely not happened yet, a slight SERPS shake up maybe, but nothing significant.

I'll let you know when eHow reach #1 for all of my search queries and my UK traffic tanks.

While Friday was within 13 views of my worst day since Christmas Eve, Saturday was the best day since Feb. 23.  Go figure!
