I know that's kind of like asking what's your favorite car crash of all time, given how morbid war is and especially the Viet Nam war, but still, with all the incredible movies addressing the subject, I can't help but list them in order of my favorite. Check out the list on my hub...<snipped link> Also, be sure to vote for your favorite!

Always going to be PLATOON  for me, closely folowed by the epic Apocalypse Now. But Oliver Stone's movie had incredible impact and emotional power. Great movie making

Platoon had a far deeper effect on me than Apocalypse Now. An AMAZING triumph of a film smile

Hey, that's what I was going to say! (except I probably would have used correct grammer)
        "What's your malfunction Private Pyle?"
And no one mentioned Hamburger Hill? Okay, I'll mention it. Hamburger Hill was a great one too!

    Excellent topic, mtd.
But promoting your own hub on a HP forum thread is now allowed. I suggest you delete the reference and link so you don't run afoul of Admin...

BTW, mine is Full Metal Jacket.

Live and learn... I won't include the url anymore, but it seems silly not to... After all, isn't promotion or self-promotion a big reason why we're doing this in the first place????

BTW, Full Metal Jacket is one of my favorites...I would suggest you go to my hub about this subject and see where it ranks in my top 10 but i'm not sure if such a thing is allowed. So, I'll just leave it at that...

It's a tough call here between Platoon and FMJ.  Got to go with FMJ though even though the final section was shot in Docklands, London.

Great topic - some of my favourite films.

My absolute favorite to date, followed closely by Full Metal Jacket.  Although, I can't make it through either without weeping and ending up emotionally exhausted.

Tough choice. There a lot of good ones and a lot of bad ones.

My favorite would priobably be We Were Soldiers followed by Hamburger Hill.

But getting a nod would be Platoon, Good Morning Vietnam, The Killing Fields and Gardens of Stone.

Ones that I liked but that I thought were sort of "out there" would be Full Metal Jacket, The Deer Hunter, Apocalpyse Now, and Casualties of War.

I usually don't like war movies, since I have immediate family in the military.  But even though it's not entirely a Vietnam War movie, I love Forrest Gump so much.  I could watch that movie all the time and never get tired of it.  Tom Hanks really impressed me with this one.

Mine is the one that unfolded right before my eyes that I took part in in 1968 during the TET Offensive. I don't care about any of the other movies.

Favourite Vietnam movies of all time? It's got to be Apocalypse Now, The Deer Hunter and Full Metal Jacket. Those movies have stood the test of time.
