I have been noticing this for quite awhile.
Google lists the hub title and then some off-the-wall comment note as the summary. Not the hubs first paragraph. Not the summary section if so indicated. No, google is picking up its summary info from some randomly selected, usually idiotic comment. What is up with that?
Is google being a mess again or is the person leaving the comment very, very tech smart somehow?
I have seen this recently too.
Have you specifically written a summary though? Via the appropriate option in edit mode? Because I don't do that.
If you don't write one of those it will be left to Google to generate a summary, generally this will be the first sentence or two, but it can be anything.
Yep, I did the summary thing. Alas, I have even seen documentation somewhere though that googe will ignore it more often than not. If they would pick something that was part of the original hub, I wouldn't be too perturbed. But they seem to be always grabbing nonsensical stuff from the comments section.
I even deleted the relevant comment once. But when google re-indexed they just picked another one.
You know what? This clearly indicates to me that google can’t tell the difference between the article and the comments.
Someone sometime ago hypothesized that misspellings in comments would hurt the hub ranking. I think I have just come around to their point of view…

Since this feature was deleted, HP staff have told us that this would be reinstated. It does not matter to all of us, but I know that in my case the readers find it very helpful. A former staff member told me last year that this would become a reality in June of 2021. That did not happen. If it is...

Is this common? On the Google results page, just under the title of my hub, Goodle is using the first sentence of the hub instead of the summary. (Yes, the summary is there on the hub, I checked.) Are summaries just wishful thinking on my part? Is this just more of Google playing hard to get and...

My goodness, I have read oh so many forums trying to figure out why my once flourishing hubs suddenly took a devastating nosedive. I have learned a lot from others comments & shared experience. I have also recognized that there seems to potentially be a number of possible reasons why many hubs...

Boy, now I'm really confused. Our hub summaries (just under the title) are supposed to be what shows up as a description in Google searches, right? So I just launched a new hub. It's reading a 94 hubscore right now and is not an Editor's Choice (yet). Here is what my summary says:"When it...
