   INDIANOLA, Iowa (AP) — Until he tried a marijuana look-alike product called "K2," David Rozga's most dubious decision was getting a Green Bay Packers tattoo on his shoulder.
   
   
   Then the 18-year-old athlete and band standout got high on the fake pot last June and complained to a friend "that he felt like he was in hell," his father said.
   
   Though he had never suffered from depression, the teenager went home, found a shotgun and killed himself — one of at least nine U.S. deaths in the last year that authorities suspect were caused by synthetic products designed to mimic marijuana, cocaine and other illegal drugs.
   
   An Associated Press analysis shows that the substances are increasingly causing users to fall seriously ill, with some suffering seizures and hallucinations.
   
   Available in many head shops for as little as $10, the synthetic drugs are often packaged as incense or bath salts, but they do nothing to perfume the air or soften water.

   I'm all for alternative medicine but these are dangerous and the makers are irresponsible,at best

      I've smoked some of the "blends" that for all the world, taste like, and seem to be exactly like marijuana - except they smell much better, and are still legal.
      
      I can't imagine what I smoked being any more dangerous than marijuana - which is about as dangerous as a cup of coffee.
      
      I totally do not understand any of this - but I tend to . . .resemble the late Dr. Leary when it comes to substance experimentation.

   I wrote  a hub about legal drugs, and specifically how much more dangerous it is to take legal ones instead of illegal ones simply because we know nothing about their side effects, where as with the illegal ones at least you know what you are letting yourself in for with them. I got a comment from a guy experiencing growths, him and his gf, sever addition and rages. It sounded worse then some hippy smoking pot and trippin on shrooms to me. What happens is they have a chemical compound that acts similar to a popular illegal drug like coke, its legal simply because of its new-ness. Once it has chance to harm a few people it can be banned but all they have to do is change a small aspect of the compound and have a new, legal version of something else that was banned. At least this is how it is working here in the UK. I will keep to my *cough* illegal plants
