This word highlighted in black at the bottom of my account page caught my eye today. Just curious, what heinous acts of violation would prompt HubPages to make a hub irrevocable?
I remember Maddie saying that spam backlinking would do it.
Spam backlinking is when you put a lot of links that are unrelated to the content of your hub, right?
That captures the essence quite well, I think. The way I recall it, the example given was where hubs were made solely to promote an external site; that would be incurable.
I see. I was looking though the forum for a topic on that "Irrevocable" thing but didn't find any so I decided to ask.
So is spam backlinking the only reason a hub might be deemed irrevocable?
I'm sure they will use it a lot more than that. A hub written to defame another person, for example. One written in a foreign language, etc.
When a hub is marked irrevocable, it means that the hub will not be published here no matter how many changes you make to it. Full stop.
Although there is no real information from the HP team, I would imagine that could include stolen content, illegal topics, spam (including spammy backlinked hubs as WE pointed out), etc.
Spam backlinks could include those that come from dubious sources, obviously used paid services, etc.
Oh, I see. I thought "irrevocable" meant the hub has been unpublished and deleted and you can't ever get it back. Hehe. Thanks for clearing that up.
it means, 'we caught you, don't try it again'
They caught me providing a very handy listing of specific places of tourist interest with original summaries of the services they provided. How dreadful of me. No biggie, was already planning on moving all my tourism stuff to their own sites anyway.

I have been on hubpages for two months. I have read multiple articles on SEO and backlinking. Ninety percent of my hubs do not have backlinking. But I choose for a while to say no backlinking. It was "different" I thought and "original". ...

Does anyone know the magic formula to increasing page views. Here is what I am looking at for averages over all of my accounts and hubs. Monthly Views: 17 Per HubAd Program Earnings Per Page view: .005 (half a penny)Adsense and Amazon Revenue: Negligible, not calculated. So, this means...

This is how I understand backlinks. Linking to a webpage that links back to you is more valuable to SEO than not having it link back to you. The more removed this website is from your own the better. For example, linking from one of my hubs to a non-hubpages webpage is more...

I was hub hopping and saw a rather innovative approach to having a hub written in two languages. The text portion of the hub was written in English, and then a photo was uploaded containing the same article, written in Spanish.I didn't flag the hub, but I am looking for some feedback - does this...

I've been doing quite a lot of backlinking recently. Can anyone tell me why some sites sometimes award you with a backlink (that shows up in yahoo) and other times they don't? For example, I have sent loads of articles to the usual squad - Xomba, shetoldme, redgage etc, and only now and again does...
