The government does not allow you to take your own life no matter what.  Should this change under special circumstances.

People with extremely painful diseases and other kinds of illness that are incurable are made to suffer through life.  Sure there are medications that can help make it a little easier, but these things are very addictive.  Some of them have to be taken multiple times a day (3 or more).  This costs people tens of millions every year if not more.

If they just want to die should we let them?

Is not allowing them to die, in fact, telling them they must suffer for the rest of their lives or until a cure can be found?

As a society, can we really tell them that them being alive is more important than what they are going through?  Do we have that right?

Quality of life vs staying alive.

    Unbearable pain vs law.

    Rest vs hope

    Where do you lie?  hmm

I find it really sad that people have to sit alone in hospital rooms, slowly dying, knowing that they are going to die. It isn't fair for them. If we can do it for animals, we should be able to do it for humans, especially if they ask for it while animals can't. I've had to put two of my pets down because they were terminally sick, and while it was hard, it was much better than watching them walking around and crying in pain. Humans are the same.

I never thought of it like that.  I have a pet of my own that has a condition where I will have to have her put down someday.  That's a great point.  Very interesting     hmm

Plain and Simple- People should have full control of their life and shouldn't be dictated by others, with regards to oneself suffering. wink

I think that we should be able to decide ---- if we have a sickness or disease that cannot be cured ---- to do whatever we want. When our animals are sick or have had something happen to them that can't be fixed we put them 'down'. How about being that kind to human beings!?!

in relation to those who know they will die...i believe some who decide to end life early - do...it's a choice that's made and not one that is determined or discussed with outsiders.

...i also believe, some of those folks who decide may have a difficult time asking a close one to help for obvious reasons...i figure some folks would not want a complete stranger to take them through such an intimate time... some may have decided to jump off early but have not communicated this  ...and then they cross a line of no return and thus suffer to the natural end...at the point of crossing the line i wouldn't know whether or not they want help if the wish was not communicated...maybe they do and maybe they don't...i don't understand because I haven't experienced the process of dying...

...wouldn't want to help someone unless it was discussed prior and of course i think you'd have further confirmation in your heart as the journey is close to ending....i think you'd just know the help was still required if a person is at the point of not being able to communicate even though they asked for help...

...this is a difficult subject to determine what is right and what is wrong really...I think the answer is on a person by person basis...and not really something that can be written into law so easily...................the 'private' practice will continue as it has all along
