3! Pangasenense is my native tongue or first language(Pangasinan), Filipino is my national language(Philippines), and English is my second language.

Just these three and a little of Spanish(from college) help me move around and communicate with friends.

English, German fairly well but not fluent, Biblical Hebrew very well and almost fluent (though you don't actually really speak Biblical hebrew as such, you more read/listen to it) and I am self-taught in that language.  I know a little Portuguese, a little Indonesian and a little Old English - again all self-taught.

English and French (fluent), German (enough to get around and read technical papers), Italian (okay), Czech (about the same as German), Latin (although there's not much call for it these days). And a dozen words or so in a dozen other languages (including puns, even bilingual ones), and enough Old Church Slavonic to sing part of a liturgy.

Easily English. Malay and some Cantonese. My husband and I chop and change these languages we speak to each other when we do not want the kids to understand what we say. That really irks them!!! LOL.

I was beginning to forget English, which was worrying, and inspired me to start writing on a writers' workshop and HubPages. It certainly helped.
BTW, I'd never noticed English isn't your mother tongue until you mentioned it.

Thank you, it's the nicest compliment, but I know my limitations. I had English at school as a second language, had problems with that, decided to overcome those problems, started to read a lot in English at home and listen BBC radio "Theatre of the Air" it was the name I think. I fell in love with English culture, history, everything. My dream is to go to England to see a lot of things I read about.  I came to Canada with a strong East-European accent, that is now probably Canadian East-European or smth. Accent is the hardest to get rid of.  I work at a Russian company, so mostly I speak Russian at work.

I've never been able to get rid of my English accent when I speak German, either, even though I've lived here almost 24 years. And, strangely enough, when I speak English now, nobody can tell where I'm from. It's just a neutral accent that doesn't belong anywhere.

I am a native American English speaker who grew up in the State of Wisconsin.  I can speak Chinese Mandarin, Taiwanese, and the Thai language to varying degrees of fluency.  Right now I'm working on learning the Isan dialect of Thai which is spoken by the people who live in Northeastern Thailand.

Why do you need Thai language? To work or live in Thailad may be? In terms of practicality I would love to be able to speak French or Spanish. I could go and live somewhere else, where climate is better for my old bones when they'll become completely... old.  Financial climate could be better too... April 18th, I am still wearing my winter coat, shame on you Canada!
      Nice country but  climate sucks!

My native language is Cebuano (which some people would call a dialect), but we were trained to speak English in school. I speak a little bit of Tagalog, my country's national language, although my vocabulary, grammar, and accent suck. tongue I also speak a little Japanese. smile
