A lot of them are new. So I guess my hubs are showing up quite frequently on the front page, or something. Either way, it's not like people are following me because I've followed them. I just actually seem to be picking up one new follower every day.
Is this a compliment of my skills or is it just a lot of "Follow me, I'll follow you" on behalf of the people hitting the follow button?
Most followers are the I followed you so you follow me, I even get them coming back and asking why I haven't followed them back !
If you really want loads of followers then post words that mean absolutely nothing on every thread - there are a few professionals at that here. I mean EVERY thread, with some pointles 'yes luvvie', or 'congrats on your 50th follower' or some other @$$ licking platitude. Works like a charm apparently
One should be along here soon I expect.
Wow Recommend, congrats on your vicious cynism!
Was that a good anough arse kiss?
Thanmks Sooooooooo much for your comment - and I just luv your cute avatar -simper- -simper-
Congrats, NateSean! Take it as a compliment. Don't you deserve to be followed? I'm sure they are your new fans.
Oh yeah, forgot about the "yes, luvvie"
I need to get a cute avatar and maybe I'd have more followers!
I only used the head - would you like me to cut some other piece off my panda and send it
Generally, I follow people who stand out as worth following in the forums, write good interesting hubs - and I always check out anyone who leaves me fan mail as a matter of politeness - and often follow them. The pointelss followings are those 'for the sake of' type. The use of followers is to get a few people started on reading your stuff when it comes out to kick start the traffic - do you really think a professional follower is going to check your stuff out of hundreds and hundreds ?
Noooo, I'm thinking you probably already used the cutest part!
kiss,kiss, simper, simper, hug hug
That does it for me
But you obviously haven't studied panda's - have you seen those teeny weeny babies and the little pocket they put them in ?
Awwww...now that's a hit below the belt! I'm a sucker for cute baby animals!
You are joking... surely.. I thought you followed me because I promised you $10 per 'I agree with PD!' post in the forums
You mean that you actually like my stuff.. Big Boy?
Nah ! I followed you because I thought you were a girl and the money of course !
Ohno.... bugger must've been my Foo Fighters Pretender Hairdo
Everyone has their own reasons for following, I would guess. And certainly some of those reasons would be to try to get a follow-back. I only follow back if they've written something worth following
Congrats on your followers, luvvie! Oh...wait did I spell that right? Got to make sure I simper correctly....
Well, it is a nice feeling having a follower or two when you log in.
congratulations... wonderful writer... informative hubs... yes, luvvie... blah blah blah....
;-)
A little bit of both, but your hubs are good reads, so it would be safe to assume that's the reason. Be content, I recently was asked why I was following a particular writer, I found the question odd, but replied that I found two of the historical hubs to be good and good reads.
I'd say I get a follower a day, not all the time though. Sure most of them are just hoping for follow backs!

I am fairly new here, but what I've learned is that most people follow to get followers. (I was that person). What I discovered was that, if I follow you I am required to read your hubs when published. My suggestion; don't follow to be followed. Follow because you genuinely are interested in the...

In my years on this site I have seen so many people randomly follow me in hopes that I follow them back. And then as soon as I do, if the topics they write on interest me, they delete me from the hubbers they're following?Do you guys really think this makes people want to read and comment on...

There seems to be an increasing number of people signing up on HubPages whose only activity here, is to add followers to their account, sometimes in their hundreds. As I understand it, we are penalized for doing precisely this so what is their real purpose in doing this. Am I...

Why do followers stop following ?I have lost 3 followers this week for no apparent reason. I wonder what people's reasons are for unfollowing each other. Why follow in the first place? My suspicious mind tells me it is people who only followed me originally to try to increase their own flock of...

Why seasoned hubbers follow hubbers who have not even published a single hub the followed hubbers are totally inactive on hubpages?

What has your experience been. Did you notice that the more people you followed, the more people followed you? Did you ever start following people just because you wanted more followers? I have been pretty selective in the people that I follow and I am totally happy with all of the awesome Hubbers...
