I recently joined HP a week ago and I have begun to understand the overall concept of this website. I am excited to see what my writing can produce both in terms of an audience and revenue.
I was hoping I might hear from some Hubbers in response to this forum post with any tips or suggestions for a new user. I also rather enjoy the concept of an online community of like-minded writers and look forward to the opportunity to discuss interesting topics with fellow Hubbers.
Thanks.
Hi, nice to meet you! and welcome to Hubpages, it is great here, and is so easy to do. The main thing is really just to write good quality hubs, and always answer any comments that you get, everybody appreciates that as they always go back to see what you have written back. Then go and read theirs too. it does take a while to get started on earnings but you will get there, good luck!
Well-advised. Thank you kindly for the advice.
Welcome to Hubpages.
First take advantage of all the great tutorials here. Search for anything you want to learn to do and be amazed at what you find and even better learn. This community is rich with knowledge and the hubs available to you will keep you growing for a long time.
My best advice is to create content you feel passionate about. It seems passion and love of a topic always comes through in the end.
I guess I should head over to your page and learn more about your focus. Best Wishes and Much Success, Katie
Thank you for taking a look at my first hubs and for the advice. This website is an information overload, but I'd rather be over stimulated than under.
Welcome! First off, stay away from the Religion and Politics forums unless you're ready for a bit of, uhhhh, debate.
Then read all you can by Sunforged, Thisisoli, Peter Hoggan, Darkside, Mark Knowles, Marisa Wright, etc.
Thanks for the advice on the religion and politics. As I tend to avoid those areas of topic in my daily life, I will do similarly on this site haha.
Thanks for the list of recommended authors, they have some awesome hubs!
Nell's response was excellent advice Kaniel : here's one I made the mistake of doing(and still do to lesser extent now.) Make sure before you publish a hub to edit it thoroughly- i.e., punctuation marks, the right word/words in your sentence structure etc. There's a strange thing that can happen: even though you think things are fine at first, when you re-check or answer a comment you may spot something off. If possible its best to have another person read it first as they may find things you didn't catch. Welcome to HP, it truly is the best writing and interactive platform out there in my opinion.
Thanks for that. As much as I know that editing is a vital part of writing, it is something that I occasionally find myself apathetic about. So far I'm loving this platform. Looking forward to reading more from other Hubbers.
Welcome to HP - good advice above, especially taking a tour of the turorials first
The tutorials are great, but what an overwhelming amount of consideration to take with each article written, especially when it comes to the mandate of SEO.
I agree, it is quite overwhelming! I think each hub I write is a little bit better than the previous and takes into account more things I have learned.
Do you stick mainly to topics you know off the top of your head or do you branch out into unfamiliar territory?
I write articles within my area of expertise. For me writing is much more enjoyable if I am passionate about the topic. I also don't need to spend time doing lots of research before I write.
Maybe someday when I become a better writer I will venture to other, more profitable topics.
HA! K, just posted one went back to answer a comm and found two misspells. Some people never learn..lol. Happy Easter!

Hello fellow Hubbers,I don't know if this is the correct place to introduce myself. There was no introduce yourself page. Hopefully i'm not violating any rules. I joined today so completely new to the forum. I have already posted two hubs and waiting on them being verified. What I was wondering was...

How do you maintain a positive attitude and not give up on writing at HubPages? With the recent google changes, the virus alerts, and the viewer drops, how can a person stay upbeat and positive writing on here? I am beginning to question this.

I am 60 and new to writing, blogging and to hub pages. After retiring I started writing freelance and started these. I read many of the threads here. Still I want my only hub (I have three more, not published yet) to be viewed by experienced and not so experienced writers and please tell what you...

Hi,I just published my first hub page, after lot's of cruising through all the help topics I could find. Any critique would be helpful (except from known trolls who wait under bridges, licking their chops, looking for newcomers to eat).Seriously, I haven't a clue whether this is acceptable and all...
