It has been ugly all day, but just to the west of me. There has been numerous Tornadoes and they are gaining strength. There is a line from the Texarkana Arkansas/Texas line up through to north central Arkansas filled with Tornado warnings.

I had better sign off for a time now. The lightning is getting closer and storm approaching.
Time to get flashlight and radio ready.

Not far from me then! Lake Ouachita is a great bass fishing lake. That area got hit real hard this evening. Tornado and some wind damage near there.

It is suppose to rain/storm this weekend though.

Well, I know a lot of fishermen who like fishing when storm fronts are in the area.

Yep Michael, the bad weather doesn't bother me...it's the tornadoes that I'm concerned about.
I lived in S florida for many many years and weathered lotsa hurricanes.
I'm an old surfer. Those were the days the surf was the best...smile:
I don't like the "Wizard of Oz" tornado! lol
I've caught my share of stripers in Ouachita lake. Ihope to catch a bunch this summer.
              Thanks for the comeback!

Needless to say, hoping they don't get too close, Michael.   Thinking of you and others in your region.

Good luck in your cellar !

While you are waiting for it all to go by (safely I hope) you might put your mind to your OP.  You say 'bear down the hatches' is this a typo or is it how you use the phrase?  I have heard batten down, dog down, but this is a new one for me.  As a sailing term I know it is used as bear away, to turn with sail or leave the dockside, and generally used as 'to carry' as in arms or a mark/brand of some kind.

Always interested in uses of words that I haven't met before.

Fingers crossed for you and everyone out your way, Michael. Hopefully it will pass without incident. I have never encountered any of these extreme weather conditions and can only imagine how bad it must be for you, having seen videos and documentaries on TV.

Wow, that was some winds! Could literally feel the house shake when the storm hit. Had pillows and cover with me in the bath tub!

The lightning and winds have finally subsided. It should be clear here the rest of the night. Eastern part of the State is getting hit hard now.

Weather forecast is for more tomorrow and Wednesday. "Gotta' love Spring in the South!"

A lot of damage across the State today. 7 reported killed by the storms.
Second wave of storms expected later today. We are at a Higher risk of tornadoes this afternoon and into the evening.
Didn't get much sleep last night and looks like tonight may be just as bad.
