One COMPREHENSIVE place to find tips on generating hub traffic?

   Is there a definitive and comprehensive article, or series of articles, for beginners that explains all aspects of how to get lots of traffic to hubs, not just one aspect of it? One that defines and explains its terms such as "bookmark your hubs to online services" and other terms used in articles that address this subject? I need a starting point to learn all this stuff in an orderly manner, as quickly as possible, from the ground up.

   There isn't ONE comprehensive place to find tips on generating hub traffic.
   
   You can try the Learning Center, but I don't quite think it will be sufficient to answer your question. No single hubber covers an entire series of hubs on varied sources.
   
   There are not too many truly reliable sources for traffic, but there are plenty of different places that you can draw little bits of traffic from. The primary source you should be getting your traffic from is Search Engines, through direct term searches.

   many times throughout the series it points to other hubbers and resources that covered important topics very well. Long ago, I started a thread where Hubbers pointed out hubs that helped them and these were intertwined and referenced.
   
   TLC - is a good intro resource, but is understandably slim in marketing and seo concepts.
   
   Peter Hoggans SEO series is very solid. Susana S has some great hubs that are newer than the series, so may not be referenced yet, be sure to read about the wonder wheel from her portfolio.
   
   Mark Knowles and Misha have a handful of hubs that can be trusted as being from Hubbers who actually have the experience to share what and how to get traffic .
   
   Im sure there is more, but I havent been keeping up with new hubs in these topics as its quite hard to sift through the rehashes and newb nonsense when looking for practical advice in this field.

   It's nice to visit a forum thread and actually see "HubPages Knowledge Exchange" in action (I am finding some of the squabbling in the other threads more than a little tiresome).  It took me a while to suss out the good advice from the BS when I joined HP, but Sunforged has named some great sources of quality info, methinks (including himself)!  :-)

   If you want visitors the most important thing is to write a page that people want to read.
   
   First you find out what people want to know about. Then you meet the need.
   
   That means plenty of keyword research. Combine the Google adwords tool and drop boxes in search engines (suggested search terms) and you will have one great way of getting good keywords.
   
   Having said that, finding good keywords is no small subject and needs a lot of thought. You will soon start to notice a lot of  ways of finding them. Keeping up with trends and noticing what kinds of page do well by keying into those trends is very helpful.
   
   The next step is produce a good page. That is where writing skills come in. Give the page some drive and any kind of theme or narrative and you have a chance to carry the reader through to the end. In other words find an angle (in old fashioned journalistic terms) and develop it.
   
   On page SEO is a lot more important than off page SEO on Hubpages. On page SEO just means using pictures, videos and links to other sites to support your text and deliver something worthwhile for the visitor.
   
   If a lot of people want to read your page it will have a great chance of success here because Hubpages can still find you the audience despite its recent troubles.
   
   I wouldn't get bogged down in SEO issues. Let Hubpages do the SEO.

      A BIG thank you to all who replied. I'll check out all sources you supplied. It just seems like a HUGE undertaking to understand how all this works.  I love to write and it comes fairly easy to me, but anything that has to do with numbers, statistics and business just scares the living daylights out of  me.
