you use a picture from the web which says it may be subject to copy right?
You have to find out if it is copyright free or not.
If you don't bother and it's not copyright free what happens?
also how do you find out?
There is a chance that the person who owns the copyright would sue you if they found it. Besides, it's unethical.
You have to find out who owns the rights to the photograph and ask their permission to use it, or just go to sites that offer copyright free images and you won't have to worry about it.
I simply don't use something like that as UW says it's simply a bad idea.
What the previous posters said is correct.
If you don't have access to your own photos, it's better instead to seek Creative Commons images on Wikicommons or in Flickr, and provide the necessary attribution in the Photo Capsule.
Simone and Robin are working on a Learning Center entry on it, in fact.
thankyou.
I'm afraid I've made this mistake hundreds of times. Must I fix and delete most of my photos? Or will HP tell us like they did some other things??
Our moderators will only tell you if the image is pixelated/grainy or if it has a watermark.
If it's copyrighted, though, and you've used it without permission, the copyright holder could ask you to take it down or, as Uninvited Writer said, sue you.
I would consider taking out those pictures that you're not sure you have the right to, and replace them with your own or with properly-attributed Creative Commons ones.

I see Hubs where beautiful photos are used and are from Pinterest. The photos are usually credited as being from Pins. Are we allowed to use those photos??

HubPages is very firm in their rule to only use photos for which you have permission to use. Hypothetically, what happens if you break this rule? I've seen many people using images that are clearly not theirs to use and I was just wondering if this affects them in any way...

Or do you really use your own? Some of the images I saw on some of the hubs looked like they were taken off the search engines. Am not very familiar with the policies, and it says that post only images that you have a right to. So I always include the source of the pictures I used from the search...

Is it against copyright laws to take a photo of the cover or pictures inside my books to use in my hubs? or photos of portraits/paintings from unknown artists I have on my wall?

Hello all, this might seem a stupid one but I still haven't figured it out yet. What is the score with applying photos to your hub, I mean can you just scroll the web and copy any photo you like?? I'm confused.... I understand the video aspect and that's cool embedded Url?? well...

I have not used hubpages for around a year and have recently started to get back into it, I must admit that in the beginning I was a little Naive and posted images into my hubs willy nilly without thought of where they came from. I have recently recieved an email from a photo place saying that I...
