How to increase Hubpages traffic?

   Currently Hubpages makes up for less than 10% of my total views!

      If you have good hubs that are commercial you will get most of your traffic through the search engines, and therefore a lower percentage of followers and other hubbers in the stats.
      
      Usually considered a good thing.

         I was actually quite shocked and UPSET with my fellow hubbers for not reading my hubs! Compete with Google would ya!

            Honestly I spend a lot less time on that than most people. And it seemed to work. I just find a keyword or 2 that may or may not work and just stick with it. If it doesn't work I just move on. Backlinking has not performed as well as my original strategy. But once again I found something that worked.
            
            I think it is because of pre-algo that I still get views. However I have not tried to make any more sites since. Not because I didn't want to, just been way to busy.

      I still don't get the backlinking thing. So you go on other sites, pretend an interest and get "friend" or followers you don't really know, and then slip the URL's to your hubs in what is a private message to them? StumbleUpon says you can't just post HTML. How are people managing to do this?

         The way backlinking really works, or at least works the best.. In my understanding. I have not perfected it at all, nor have I used it.. but.
         
         Some random person has a webpage with great information on it. You have a hub that has great information that will add to that particular site. You can go about it 2 ways.
         
         Just link it: Can work, but not the best way
         
         Contact the owner of the page and tell them you have great information on your site. If you link theirs and give them traffic, many times they will link back.

            Thanks for answering. That does make more sense. I have done book reviews and found a site that let me put mini reviews on it, and they point to the bigger ones I have on HP. But as far as my Astrology stuff, it's read often, but the big sites don't want anyone else's info. Much of what I read on them is garbage or incorrect, it's a lot more complicated than people understand. I'll think about what you said though, and check out your writings.
