Do you think president Obama might be able to win a bid to remain in office the second time by his 'recent achievement' of killing Osama Bin Laden
That is likely one of his hopes, I'm sure, yes.
No that achievement will be long forgotten by election day. Obama will run on a vague message... he'll claim to be a Washington outsider and he'll want to talk about how his transformation of America isn't complete. He'll do and say anything to distract America from his record like bring up integration. Obama is after the 70% of latinos that vote democrat and if he can get more of them to vote that will go a long way to getting him re-elected.
Heaping so much praise on the President in this case is like getting a great burger at McDonalds and giving all the credit to Ronald McDonald. Someone else has done the work and the clown gets the credit.
The Discovery Channel is running The Killing of bin Laden.
"It is also running on Discovery HD and will re-run later tonight and again tomorrow on the Military Channel." from another board.
Two 75 cent bullets were a lot cheaper than a lengthy trial, imprisonment and eventually execution. Cuts down on the numerous protests and terrorist acts while Osama is awaiting trial(s).
Two 75 cents bullets is the kind of 'justice' that America and democracy is supposed to deplore.... we make hypocrits of ourselves if we sink to the same level as those we chastise.
Perhaps if America spent less money on it's various military campaigns world-wide, they would have been be able to afford a trial for Bin Laden, and to have shown the world that they stand by the principals upon which their nation was founded!
Two bullets to the head was far better than Bin Laden deserved and I'll have to agree with Paul on this one.
Thank you to the SEALs for a job well done.
Hunter - as usual, we vote differently but agree on the major issues. I hoped they all urinated (for the monitors- HI) on him before throwing him in the ocean. I am not opposed to the idea of a double tap to everyone in that house either. Hope things are well my man
A better option: Capture Bin Ladin and everyone else in his "mansion." Have the intelligence collection team sweep everything up. Fly away. Put three to four 500 pound bombs into the house on the way out.
Say absolutely nothing. Take Bin Laden to a black prison somewhere. Hold the rest of the people. Interrogate everybody. Give Bin Laden the chance to appreciate harsh interrogation techniques.
Over time decide to keep or release the others at the "mansion". Never say a thing. Ever.
There would be no protests. No riots. Only bewilderment as Al Qaeda is rolled up like a cheap carpet.
Don't you believe that the people who lost loved ones in 9/11 deserve to have a little vindication as opposed to just never ending wars with no point and no end? That seems a little harsh. It isn't like Al Queda is a group of crafty thinkers who we need to find out where the bomb is at. They are retards with a Radio Shack gift card. These are the people who tried to attack a Navy Seals training base with 8 people and knives. The tragedy of 911 was more to do with our mistakes than their genius. What is Osama going to tell us that we don't know? They are in Somalia now? I am on my couch in Dallas and I know that.
What better vindication than Al Qaeda's total defeat?
Did you know that the top leaders were professionally trained? They had engineers and scientists among their ranks.
I suspect there were many probing attacks to discern our security weaknesses before places were hijacked and used as guided munitions to take down the World Trade Center and damage the Pentagon.
People always say the same when asymmetric warfare succeeds. They attacked us in ways we were unprepared or unwilling to counter. It worked.
Now we know he was deeply involved in more than just the grand strategy. He was very involved right up until we killed him. We might have found a very great deal about the tactical aspects of current operations.
I know you are an Army guy, so I am not sure why you don't get this, but you can never entirely defeat an idea. Ever. That is why you can't have a war on terror; you can't fight an action...as long as a single person is willing to commit said action, the war never ends. Al Queda doesn't have a country...they are basically an idea. As long as one dude has that idea...they exist. In the reasonable sense of thinking...Al Queda can't be entirely defeated...ever. You can't scour the earth looking for anyone who has an idea and kill them...just doesn't work. If you have a never ending war, well...you've read Orwell.
Everyone would like to see Bin Laden treated the same way the Ancient Romans treated pirates and terrorists, crucifixion or the star attraction at the upcoming games - where they usually become a human torch. But capturing Bin Laden, interigating him, and holding him prisoner is not a good idea. Holding a high level terrorist creates a potential opportunity for his followers to pull more desperate stunts to try to get us to release him. Possibly something far worse than what happened on 9/11. Keep in mind his followers has been out in the sun too long and have common sense equivalent to a small light buld. Although it hasn't happened with Bin Laden's second and thrid in command, who are now in our custody. Hmmm. Now that the Bin Laden is sleeping with the fish food, and his second and thrid in command are basically useless to us now, how about feed them to the sharks in a pair of cement shoes?
What kind of world is it where Obama kills Osama? Trying to picture the history books a hundred years from now.
Here is my poem.
Obama, obama, he killed Osama, Osama.
Osama say yo mama
He raise up all this drama
He hit US with trauma
They caught him in pajama
Killed him dead with headly trauma
Ended all the drama
Obama, Obama.
Thank you for sharing your views.
I just hope terrorism will come to an end.
Terrorism won't end. There'll be someone who will fill his shoes.

Okay, I know this probably isn't that big of a deal to some folks, but i thought i'd bring it up anyway. On the radio the other day, I was listening to two political analysts, and one of them still insists on labeling O'Bama a moron for how he's handled things from day one of his...
