I just got an email from Robert Mueller I11, FBI director which states that the President, FBI, Finance Minister, the Senators, House of Representatives and The Central Bank Governor all had a meeting and decided that I am the beneficiary of an $800,000 inheritance. I need to Western Union $350 for a slip to get my ATM card with $800,000 on it. As it is signed by Robert Mueller and overseen by the FBI it is risk free and must be true. I'm rich!!!
Question: is there anyone on the face of the earth smart enough to push the "on" button on the computer but also stupid enough to send the money? The two seem mutually exclusive of each other.
Yeah, I would just delete it if I were you, as it sounds like a scam. Believe it or not, I heard of cases such as these where people from foreign countries like India and Nigeria would often try to coerce people into sending them money for either a promise of a fortune, or the companionship of someone. The sad reality is that there are some people that are victims of this kind of scam everyday. Personally, I just think it's sad thinking about.
NOW he tells me! I get these, as I think most people do, nearly every day. I've just never gotten one where the president, FBI, all of congress and so on all decided that I get the money. It puts it in a class by itself.
I can't quite imagine how the scumbags that put these out live with themselves. Especially as the only people they can actually con are generally those that can least afford it - they are the ones that will be the most hurt and go hungry as a result of falling for this stuff. Sometimes I'm glad that my 85 year old mother does not own a computer or get email.
Hold out for a million, now that you know that there is an FBI finance minister.
Well, I'm not sure where the finance minister was actually from - France, maybe, or Nigeria. But the whole of the FBI is overseeing it, so if I rush the payment and thus save them all that manpower guarding it perhaps they'll make it a cool mil.
I get them all the time.
They come from all over:-
Fedex
HBIC Bank
FBI
Pepsi Lottery
World Health Organization....
You name it!!!
There was one I got about the South Africa Remuneration Fund. Something about apologizing for all that transpired during the apartheid era. I was supposed to get a bank card with over a million US Dollars.
There are dozens of them in my spam box right now.
I don't get them on my gmail account fortunately.
I was gonna be so rich from the one's I used to get that I couldn't afford the freight to move the money if I got any more.
Scammers know one is born every minute. To them it's a numbers game.
If the religious threads are an indication of how many people are gullible, the pickings should be pretty good.
I get them in my spam mail, which I quickly scan each day for something that should'nt be there. This one had something about the FBI in the title, which piqued my interest.
I got one from the FBI a while back, demanding my bank account number because they were "investigating" my bank. Which ever bank I happened to use.
Sadly, you're right - the pickings are all too good.
It only took how many years for "them" to wear out the Nigerian royalty line? Geez. Hopefully that one's retired for good.
Unfortunately for "them," US government agencies and legislators are not nearly as credible as "they" thought.
I mean really. Who in their right mind would believe that the Senate and House of Representatives would get together and agree on ANYTHING related to money??
I still get them consistently from some Nigerian official or another.
I don't know about the house and senate never agreeing, though, MM. They always seem to agree that they should get a raise....
And I have to say that I am absolutely shocked that you do not find our fine legislators credible.
I didn't mean to single out the legislators as the non-credible ones in this scenario.
It was actually the combination of real and imaginary agencies + the legislators that I had a hard time with.
My dad was an FBI agent under J. Edgar Hoover.
Nuff said there, eh?
The Finance Minister I trust implicitly, however.
Along with the Central Bank Governor.
Not to mention the Minister of Silly Hats .
Truly, wilderness, you are a special, special American to receive such communications!
That's definitely a scam. If you really want to get rich, you have to do it the same way I am - buy Lotto tickets.
That reminds me, I have to verify the numbers for the $200,000,000 jackpot tonight!
Good thing I didn't cuss my boss out today after I bought the ticket.
I wonder if the FBI is holding some money for me.
My grandparents got a letter in the mail (yes they mail letters, something I didn't know!) telling them they'd won a big lottery in some country. They just had to pay a small fee and give their bank details. My grandpa went to the bank to send through the money and they told him it was a scam. Good thing the bank was watching!
Yeah, it's a good thing he has a good bank that'll protect his best interests like that, as it's sad that people get taken in by these scams frequently. As wilderness said, I don't know how these people can live with themselves conning others like that.
Anyways, I'm glad to hear you're grandpa didn't become a victim of such a thing.

I'm curious to know what have been the Republican congress accomplishments since Obama has been in office? It seems to me all they have done is criticsize everything that he has done and say no to any bill or legislation that he wanted passed.

It seems to me that there is a lot of talk in the U.S. media about our freedom and how we take it for granted, yet every time we turn around all we hear about is how different groups of people in this country are constantly having their rights violated. And, instead of doing something about our own...

I'm just curious if anyone has ever fallen head over heels in love with someone after only knowing them for a short time. I was camping at a gay campground over the past week, and I met a very handsome man, who I felt an immediate attraction to. You could almost say it was love at first sight....
