Since once again, comment moderation involves skipping my questions at the blog - and as someone who theorized about the subdomain concept ...
You Got To Be kidding me!
By Author!
if HP switches to authors as subdomains ... wow.
That would make most of the "quality" and commercial changes pointless and accepted as such. All the writers and time lost would be for nothing.
The witch hunts here would have been a waste of time as those "authors" (now gone) could have been stuck in their own walled subdomain
If they were to follow a subdomain model the smart choice would be topical. Did you create your author name with the intention of it being a part of your URL?
On first read, it seemed like a great idea ( I even volunteered) .. but a few seconds later, I think it would invalidate all the careful selection of short urls. Hell, my profile name is rather short .. I would feel bad for websiteexaminer.hubpages.com/myhubstitle
pauledmondson.hubpages.com/anotherhubtitle
Its to random , it would have to be by topic finance/humor/hosting(lol)/Writing etc
While topical sounds sensible, it probably is not here because there would be so much repetition within the topic.
Separation by authors has the advantage of separating the wheat from the chaff.
Whether that is enough, who knows?
You dont think as a(nother) backwards compat site change that it disregards the original intention and designs of thousands of authors?
It creates problems such as self competition, longer urls , general confusion in past marketing campaigns (even with redirects)
Im willing to be wheat or chaff on my own -but then what good was rel=author and months of twitchy changes.
eh -- it doesnt matter , but it really seems like if this was an idea it should have been done first before all the other tweaks.
Its a HUGE gamble and definitely invalidates alot of peoples idea of what they thought they were getting involved in here
Im going to wander away again now - I think subdomains are a great idea for new sites using a multi author topic / concept. Massacring the site architecture here ..yet again, sounds damn scary. You got to a pick a course and follow through on it! If its going to be quality non commercial content and mass axing of authors - do it and see what happens, dont make changes that invalidate all that was done before.

I'll probably read all of this, but it would help to put all comments here http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/77245 looking for official feedback.

There are so many of us who write fiction, and we're stuck with Amazon, itunes, Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, etc, all of which have their own difficulties.I would really like a formula in the hubpages tradition where every author has their own site, plus the ability to upload their books and sell...

The new layout explodes the prominence of the related hubs images down the right side of the page. This image appears before all the ads, apart from the Google adsense ad above the title. Related hubs get an absolutely free ride aboard all the articles that attract hits from search engines through...

Could HubPages please answer this question?1. When a Hub is "expert reviewed", does the author receive a notification?2. What is the process if the author has concerns about the expert review?

I have just come across several of my articles that have links embedded at the bottom to get the reader over to a largely unrelated Maven article. It's also only apparently on the mobile version, where it seems perhaps we are less likely to notice it. It's not just a link but the article...

Hi all. As indicated in last week’s press release, parts of The Arena Group have begun using AI to assist with content creation. Although several news articles have erroneously referenced the use of AI on PetHelpful and DenGarden, AI is not currently being used for staff content creation on any of...
